Hi I'm Justin

I'm a Sun Devil. I'm creating new ways to produce healthy organic food in the desert. I'm likely outside right now. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the curious father of four very different kids, husband to a wife I call "my queen", and although I like to watch sports on TV, I love to play them even more! Some call me a victim of the Great Recession. But I don't see it that way. I had a good career going before the recession hit, but I ended up loosing everything when the markets crashed. Even though at first I truly thought it was a curse, it all turned out to be a great blessing to both me and my family. The recession literally brought me to my knees. I've never cried so much in my life, and I'm man enough to tell you that. Everything I thought mattered; my career, my money, my investments, my luxury cars, my business... they all went away despite all my efforts to keep them. I spent more than every dime I had trying to save it and, I went bankrupt. It turns out, they didn't matter as much as I thought. What did really matter to me was my family. It hasn't been easy, but we've gone through it all together and come out the other-side stronger, more patient with each-other, more understanding of what REALLY matters to each of us, and when it all comes down to it, my kids didn't need all the joys we thought money could buy, they just needed more time together as a family. In all honesty, we've had more fun camping in the back yard than we ever had cooped up in a luxury hotel.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it offers me a true plan of happiness, not just today sitting hear in my life of pain worry and woe, but every day of my life now and my life to come. It gives me a proven path to transform whatever life has brought my way into a living masterpiece filled with the all the tender love, understanding, and divine guidance that only God can give me. I'm a Mormon, because I believe that we are all divine beings having very human experiences. I'm a Mormon because no-other religion, philosophy, school, or organization can offer a more complete and sure path to eternal happiness for myself and my entire family than what resides in the teachings and doctrine of this Church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-Day Saints. Yes, truth abounds in many places, religions, schools, and philosophies on this earth, and I both honor and respect each of them. This church has taught me to how to truly follow the Savior Jesus Christ and to live by His teachings. I'm certainly not perfect... but I know this restored Gospel complete with living Prophets on the earth today, teach us the path to get there. I'm a Mormon because no man could have written the profound truths found in the Book of Mormon let alone an unlearned boy like Joseph Smith. He, like you and I, had a divine calling to bring something forward in this world for the highest good of all. Joseph Smith was called by God to be a prophet, a seer, and a revelator of divine truths for our day and time. He was called forward to restore the original teachings and structure of the Church of Jesus Christ under the direction of The Resurrected Savior himself. I'm a Mormon because no-one convinced me this church was true... I had to find this for myself. I accepted the challenge time and time again to apply the teachings within this restored gospel into my life and by all measures, my life is filled with greater love and understanding, peace and joy, all fruits of the Spirit that testifies of truth.

How I live my faith

I have had many different callings in the church that have given me many great and cherished opportunities to serve both my fellow members, as well as my whole community. For many years I enjoyed teaching and mentoring the young men in my ward, helping them advance in rank and skill through the Scouting organization and helping prepare them for their lives ahead by helping them see, recognize, and apply their many gifts and talents in service to the world. For a time I was a full-time missionary and had the great honor to serve the people of Germany. There I was blessed to be able to teach English for professionals in the community. I also had the rare privileged to teach basketball and other team-sports to inner-city kids, fly stunt-kites, plant gardens, and sing on the streets as well as a few of those beautiful old cathedrals that dot the land. I am currently a hometeacher to 3 wonderful families in my local area that I have the great blessing to serve in many ways each month as messenger, as friend, and sometimes as their "yard guy," or even a camping buddy. I love to insure that each of my families needs are met each month both physically and spiritually. Right now, I'm also the Instructor of the Teacher Development Class in Sunday-school. Each Sunday I meet with new, and experienced In the ward and teach them fundamental skills in teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
