Hi I'm Marjorie Burnell

I was born in Hots Springs, New Mexico. It is now known as Truth or Consequences. I taught secondary school. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm an 'only child'. I have lived in several countries, spending over 28 years outside the U.S.A. I've taught Homemaking, History and Journalism. I have been active in Boy Scouting, Campfire, Lifesmarts and other youth groups. I have three married children, and eight grandchildren. I love to read, to cook, to organize, sew, and play the piano. I tried every church I could find, until I found the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I dislike moving, I'm in my 34th home! I like dogs, chocolate and Hot Chile.

Why I am a Mormon

I began searching for some understanding of God as a child. I demanded that I be allowed to attend church. My parents were not affiliated with any church but supported me as I went with a friend's family. As we moved a lot I got to attend many different churches but would always be discouraged when I found portions of doctrine that were obviously man made. When my husband and I were invited to a LDS Temple open house, we went curious about the building. We came home wanting to know more about the Church. I asked for someone to come and two men came to teach us about the Gospel. For the first time, I had all my questions answered and knew I was in the right place.

How I live my faith

I love Visiting Teaching. I get to visit and teach and learn from sisters as we discuss their needs and gospel principles within their comfort zone: their home. At Church meetings I have taught classes to children, taught young women, taught ladies. These classes taught me a lot too. I learned about the plan of happiness that our Heavenly Father has for us. He instructs us at all ages in the principles we need to know. I have taught homemaking skills, crafts and camping skills. Each of my callings (our jobs) has blessed me and my family as I learned from teaching others. I love to be a home or with my grandchildren. I play the piano for church meetings. I want to learn to play the organ. I remember the first meeting I went to a an LDS Chapel, I was so thrilled that they sang every hymn, every verse. It made me feel incredible. I know that my Heavenly Father is aware of me. I am grateful to know that I am a child of God.
