Hi I'm Brooke

I grew up on a ranch, am the oldest of 16 children (one mom & one dad :) and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to be outside. Every season is my favorite. I ski, mountain bike, hike, go canyoneering (Fat Man's Misery about pushed me over the proverbial edge :), camp, cook, grow things, paint, make jewelry (Swiss Days!), read, clean, dabble in photography, and I love being with my family. Growing up I learned to work on our farm and ranch. In high school and college I played a lot of sports and loved going to class every day. Three years ago, I met the most amazing man. We dated for 19 months before getting married and sealed for time and eternity in the temple. Every day I know I made the right decision and am so happy and thankful to be with him!

Why I am a Mormon

I knew the church was true from the time I was a little girl. From before I could talk or walk, my parents spent time with me teaching me about everything around me. They taught me that God loved me and that he created the world. We would pray together often and read The Book of Mormon as a family every day. Once a week, we would set aside special time to be together. We would play games, laugh, sing and learn about the gospel. (To be fair, squabbles happened occasionally. :) One day when I was four or five, I was riding next to my Dad in his little, green Datsun truck on the way to our farm. I remember everything about those few minutes as I gathered courage. I had something I needed to say. Christmas was almost here and everyone was telling me Santa was coming, but I knew they were wrong. I told my Dad that Santa couldn't be real because he wasn't anywhere in the Book of Mormon. I knew then as I know now The Book of Mormon is true. That testimony and knowledge holds a cherished place in my heart. Whether dealing with hardship or happiness, reading and learning from the teachings and gospel of Jesus Christ in the Book of Mormon brings great peace, knowledge and comfort to my life.

How I live my faith

I have been in many different wards as I have moved from place to place. In each new ward the people are friendly, loving and caring. I have had the opportunity to be a teacher in almost every ward and have taught many age groups; from four-year-olds to adults. I learned to live my faith from my parents growing up in our home. I love my parents and each one of my eight brothers and seven sisters very much. I know that as the oldest of 16 children I have a special obligation to set a good example for them. I strive to follow the teachings of the gospel, be Christlike and live a worthy and productive life.
