Hi I'm Katie

I'm a small town girl that enjoys traveling the world! Wherever I go I am and always will be Mormon!

About Me

I was raised in a small Utah town where my parents taught me the principles of hard work, commitment, service, education, and faith. I have always loved sports and have competed in swimming, soccer, water polo, triathlons, and many running events throughout my life. The great outdoors has been my "play ground." My dad made sure that his five daughters would leave the house with a love of fishing, camping, and backpacking...and he succeeded! I have enjoyed traveling to many Central and South American countries on humanitarian trips. I truly believe there is no better place to find yourself and some of the greatest joys of life than in the service of others. I work as a Radiology Technologist at a local trauma hospital. I have been married for one year to my best friend! Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has allowed me to keep the rollercoaster of life in perspective. I know I am a daughter of God with great potential in this life and throughout eternity!

Why I am a Mormon

My dad is a science teacher and taught me the importance of asking questions, studying it out, and putting things to the test. Every family vacation he would say something like, "Girls look out your window to the right. How do you think this rock formation was formed?" When we were young we would ponder for a few seconds and yell out whatever came to our minds. Usually we were way off track and my dad would guide us with a brief explanation of what we were looking at and then ask us again, "So how do you think it formed?" Often more history and explanation was needed before we would finally understand. As I grew older I began to appreciate his lessons and the process of learning truth. I know our Heavenly Father is a giver of good gifts (Matthew 7:7-11) I know he will answer our questions when we turn to Him in prayer. I am Mormon because I have asked, studied it out and put it to the test! One of the key questions for me was if the Book of Mormon is true. The answer didn't come instantly but required study and prayer. Each time I have studied the Book of Mormon, as well as words from our living Prophet and Apostles, I have felt the words I read are true. It is how things really are and have always been, and how the Lord wants them to be. I have acted upon those words, putting them to the test, and have received a witness that they are true! Living the teachings of the Gospel of Jesus Christ has brought great happiness, purpose, and perspective to my life. I understand where I came from, why I am here, and where I am going when I die. I know the Book of Mormon is true! It is another witness of Jesus Christ and teaches His role as our Savior, Redeemer, and loving friend. I know Joseph Smith saw God the Father and Jesus Christ. I know the Church of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth and we are led by a living Prophet today!

How I live my faith

I love serving in the Church and community! It is an incredible blessing that creates opportunities to grow, develop new skills, and love my brothers and sisters. I teach a class of nine and ten year olds in the Primary. They have a lot of energy, they are excited to learn how to study the scriptures and apply them to their lives. It is wonderful to be a part of that learning. It is also inspiring! I feel strongly that as a teacher I must practice what I teach. I feel the teachings of Jesus Christ play an important role in all aspects of my life. They are not just words I read and teach on Sunday and then forget, but words I love to study and apply each day. I am not perfect, but I know that through Jesus Christ and the covenants I have made to follow Him I will become the best me.
