Hi I'm Mike Snelson

I grew up in UT and I'm still here. As a young man, I served a 2-year mission in Finland. I'm a businessman and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a happily married husband, father and grandfather. My wife and I have 6 wonderful children, three of whom have served missions for the church. We are also blessed with four delightful grandsons and two grand daughters. Our children have excelled in their church service and education which brings us great happiness. As a business owner in the professional photography industry for most of my life, windows into the diversity of people and their personalities have been opened, giving me appreciation and tolerance for all kinds of people. My family enjoys being outdoors and mountain biking has given us the perfect opportunity to get out. My 2 boys and I love to spend time on local mountain trails as well as exotic locations, including our favorite Jackson Hole, WY. When we're not biking, we enjoy 4-wheeling and hiking in the beautiful mountains around our home. Cowboy Action Shooting is another fun activity my wife and I enjoy together. What, you've never heard of Cowboy Action Shooting? It's a fun, competitive shooting sport with real cowboy style guns and clothes. You should really check it out. As a missionary serving for 2 years in the Finland Helsinki mission my testimony of the true Gospel of Jesus Christ was strengthened and solidified and my service there allowed me the opportunity to share the gospel with many people. I served in Tampere, Raisio, Kemi, Oulu and Helsinki.

Why I am a Mormon

Being born into a family of strong church members and raised with gospel teachings and gospel standards has instilled in me a testimony of the truth of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I'm grateful for this blessing and for the opportunities it has given me to serve in many teaching and leadership positions in the church, each of which have strengthened my testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The tenants of the Gospel have helped to guide my life. The things I have been taught have served to help me make critical decisions and when I follow the teachings, help to keep me happy. The church provides many opportunities to serve others and that brings a sense of accomplishment and happiness. Service to others, charity, is what Christ's mission was all about. When we serve others, extend charity, we get outside ourselves and serve our Savior, Jesus Christ. I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints contains all the truth and priesthood authority Christ taught when he served as a mortal man. I know it has been restored though the prophet Joseph Smith. I know the Book of Mormon is true and provides more clarity to Christ's teachings. I know that if we follow the teachings of the Gospel that are contained in the Bible and Book of Mormon and heed the council of living, inspired Apostles we will be happy. I know all this through experience, inspiration and personal revelation. The Holy Ghost has witnessed to my soul the truth of the teachings found in the church.

How I live my faith

In my current church position, I serve as a trainer to the youth leaders that serve in one of seven individual congregations how to effectively fill their position to teach and train the young men in their unit and how to use the priesthood and scouting programs to help build self reliant, productive young men.
