Hi I'm Julia

I grew up in Utah and have lived here my whole life. I teach preschool. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married to my very best friend for two and a half years. He is soldier in the Utah National Guard. For our second year of marriage my husband was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. I have amazingly supportive family and friends. I come from a family of four older brothers and a little sister. I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education and an emphasis in English as a second language. I love to watch the light grow within a child as new concepts begin to click and they become excited about learning. I am inspired by the goodness of other people and am constantly impressed that even though there is growing evil, there is also growing light in the world. I love to spend time with my family doing just about anything. I also love to read, do crafts, socialize and do things outside like rock climbing, hiking and scuba diving. I also LOVE to travel. My most recent adventures were to Australia which was an amazing experience! Being a member of the church of Jesus Christ defines my life. It gives me a reason to wake up each morning and be motivated to make an effort to contribute good to this world.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon... because if I wasn't I wouldn't know who I was. Following the teaching of Jesus Christ has taught me who I am and why I am here. Although I was born into this church, like all members I have to go through my own conversion and develop my own testimony. When I was a teenager I did not understand my individual worth. I did not like who I was and I was not contributing good to the world. Through the Lord putting good people in my life, and through making the efforts to be close to the spirit, I was able to become in tune with and listen to the promptings of the Holy Ghost telling me I was important. I was sent to this earth for a purpose and that Heavenly Father had a plan for me. This was the beginning of my conversion. As I continued to listen to these promptings I learned that I am a loved daughter of God. I have learned that I am worth something because my brother Jesus Christ took my sins upon Him that I might not have to suffer them alone. I am a member of this church because I receive comfort knowing I can turn to my Heavenly Father that knows the beginning from the end and He will guide me in ALL my dealings. Time and time again my testimony has grown that God hears my prayers and he answers them! No matter how alone you may feel, no matter how many mistakes you have made, the Lord is always there to help you become whole. I am a member of the church because by keeping myself clean and by being worthy to have the spirit with me I like myself. I am not ashamed. I believe I can do good. I believe I can help someone that needs someone to love them. I'm a Mormon because it makes me happy in ways nothing else could.

How I live my faith

Throughout my youth I was able to have leadership opportunities in a variety of capacities. When I entered college I was able to plan and organize activities for large groups of people and small groups of people. I had the opportunities to serve women in my apartment complex. I have been able to teach children about the essentials of the gospel. Currently I work with the youth doing activities, planning lessons and hopefully helping them to understand their individual worth. I live my faith by making my home an environment where people can feel the spirit and inviting friends over to socialize. We open our home to missionaries to be a safe place to teach those that desire to learn about the church. Daily I pray and read my scriptures so I can have a spirit with me and I can in in tune to hear the gentle promptings. I try to remember to SMILE to let others know I care about them and they are loved. I live my faith by having a positive attitude and for being ready to share the gospel when I have the opportunity. I live my faith by loving my faith!
