Hi I'm Homer

I am a Native Arizonan. Born in Springerville, Arizona and raised here and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband of 37 years, a father of 6, and a grandfather of 24. When I was 11years old I lost my dad, who at the time was 34 years old. In those short 11 years, I learned from my dad that the most important thing to him was his family. I have tried to follow that example. My family means everything to me and without them I would not be the person that I am trying to be. I want to be with my family forever.

Why I am a Mormon

I did not join the church until I was 11 years. My dad not being a member of the Mormon faith, felt that my brother and I should not join the church until we were older and understood what we were doing. Most children are baptized at the age of 8. So we respected his wishes and were not baptized until the age of 10 and 11. I still remember the warm feeling I felt as a young boy. I new I had made a right choice. So thankful for that good choice so many years ago. It has been such a blessing through out my live. I know The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints is the only true church upon the face of the earth. Jesus Christ is at the head and speaks to living Prophets today. I want all to know that Jesus Christ lives and He is my Savior.

How I live my faith

I have had opportunities to serve in my community and my church. I served 8 years on the town council and it was a wonderful blessing to serve members of my community. I think all should have the opportunity to serve there community in some way. I also served as a Scout Master for about 6 years total through out the years. I think I learned more from the boys than they learned from me. You know you may be getting old when you start seeing some of your scouts serving as adult scout leaders. It is great to see them carry on the scouting movement. One the greatest blessings I have had serving in the church is when I was called to serve as Bishop. At first I thought someone had made a mistake. I soon learned that whom the Lord calls He qualifies. Without His help I would have never made it as a Bishop. The members of my congregation were the greatest and I am so thankful for all they did for me. The blessing of serving as been a great blessing to me.
