Hi I'm Denise

I'm a Mormon. I'm also a wife, a mother and a parole officer.

About Me

I'm a life long learner with a passion for anthropology. I love learning about cultures! I was the kid in 6th grade who loved social studies when everyone else was groaning about making an igloo with sugar cubes. I'm an avid reader and read over 100+ books a year. I read everything from cookbooks and biographies to romance and history. When I was 12 I took a 4-H cooking class and have been hooked on cooking and baking ever since. I still use a couple of the recipes I learned that summer. I also like to collect old cookbooks. I have one my mother received as a graduation present in 1944. I love that book! I'm married with two grown children and work in criminal justice as a Parole Officer.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because my faith in Jesus Christ propels me through each day! No matter what happens, I know I will have the comfort of Heavenly Father to get me through. He is my comfort, He is my strength and most of all, He is my friend. When I am obedient to the teachings of Jesus Christ, I am happy! This doesn't mean every day is perfect or that I don't have really crummy days. What it means is that I am never alone! I'm a Mormon because living the Gospel is the path to true happiness.

How I live my faith

As a Parole Officer I work with folks who are trying to create positive change in their lives. Because I have a testimony of God's forgiveness, I am able to provide a unique example of hope. I know God loves each of us, no matter what choices we've made. More than anything He wants us to repent and return to Him. Even though I can't share my faith at work, I can share God's love by loving others.
