Hi I'm Rachel

I grew up in Connecticut. I'm an animal lover, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Connecticut and then lived in Boston, Ma before moving down south to live in North Carolina. I have always enjoyed working with animals, even from the time I was a young child. When I'm not busy with work, I like to spend time with family and friends. I also try to pursue my hobbies, some of which include photography, reading, and horseback riding.

Why I am a Mormon

For the past few years I have felt as if there was something missing from my life, although it wasn't til this past summer that I realized what that "something" was. One evening this past July, missionaries knocked on my apartment door. I invited them, open to hearing what they had to say but slightly skeptical at the same time. Upon leaving that first time, they invited me to come to Church with them that Sunday, I told them that I would think about it and I decided that I shouldn't give up the opportunity. That first visit to Church struck a chord with me, I realized how family oriented the Church is, how each member cares about each other just like a family does. I will always remember the feeling I had the first time I prayed. I felt as if a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders. I was filled with a warm, light, airy feeling and I knew then that I wanted to become a member of the Church. I started to read the Book of Mormon and with each page the feeling that I was on the right path grew stronger. I met with the missionaries often after that and through their guidance I started the progression to Baptism. Every question I had, and there were a LOT of them, was answered with patience, detail and great thought. I was Baptized on September 17, 2011 and it was an amazing experience. I was surrounded by people who love and support me. I have been through many trials in the past three months, have sacrificed numerous things but I have always felt the love and support from my new "family". They share in my accomplishments, and help me through my trials. I no longer feel as if I have to go it alone and that means the world to me. When I moved down here to North Carolina four years ago, I left my life in Boston, Ma. I left my job, my friends, my family. Since opening the door for the missionaries back in July, I have been blessed with new friends, new family and tons of positive new experiences. I feel as if I've finally come home.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending Church every Sunday and by also attending as many Church functions as possible, whether it be a social function or a class given in the evenings. I also read the scriptures daily and read talks given by Church members.
