Hi I'm Amie

I joined the church as a youth in the girl's basketball program. I am a certified sign language interpreter. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife to a wonderful husband and a mom to four amazing children. I served a sign language mission for the church from 1985 to 1986, in California. I'm a level 5 (out of 5!) interpreter for the deaf. I love acting and have been in several community plays.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I needed an anchor early in my life. I joined the church when I was 14. I saw one group of friends making very poor decisions and this other, new group of friends doing amazing, fun things that didn't lead to trouble. They invited me to activities and eventually to church. They were my church family for many years. This lead me to develop a deep relationship with my savior, which has been going strong for over 35 years. I served a sign language mission for the church and came home, fell in love with my sweet husband, and started my beautiful family. Living the gospel is exciting every single day! It gives hope in a sometimes hopeless world. If you truly want to know if God really did appear to Joseph Smith in that grove of trees, do what I did. Ask God...He'll tell you because He was there!

How I live my faith

One way I live my faith is the way I raise my children. I do not lie to them. I do not "raise the price" for doing something fun after they have already done what I asked. I have learned that natural consequences are way more effective than any "shock value" punishment I can dream up. Thankfully, they're so sweet that this doesn't really come up that often! I love the youth of the church. Maybe because the church was there for me at such a crucial time in my teenage years. I teach an hour of religion to 14 thru 18 year old high school kids every morning before they go to school. I tease them that it's the best way I've found to avoid being tardy for school! I teach them how they can develop a relationship with the Savior and that He will show them how wonderful they are!
