Hi I'm Susan

I am a convert to the church. I grew up in a non-religious background in California. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a fraud investigator currently, however, I have a Master's Degree in education, and was an elementary school teacher before moving to a different state, where I was unable to continue my teaching career. I am a reader. I read everything and anything.. I am also interested in photography. I like doing needlework. My favorite past time is taking long walks in the woods, either by myself or with my dog.

Why I am a Mormon

I was not a Christian previously, but I went to many churches when I was younger, trying to find something that I could fit in with. I discovered the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because of my interest in family history. I started working on family history, and even helping others in the Church with theirs. I read a few church published pamphlets about family history. That encouraged me to read the scripture references associated with them. Then I saw some scriptures from books that I did not have. I started reading the Book of Mormon. I read the introduction, and it said to pray about it, so I did. I knew that it was true, so I was inspired to read it. Next I read the Doctrine and Covenants, and a couple of other historical books. Then I asked a friend how I could join the church. She invited me over to dinner and had the missionaries. Two weeks later I was baptized. Joining the Church really changed my life, and I am grateful to that friend and to the missionaries. It has been over 15 years now, and I do not know where I would be without the Church in my life.

How I live my faith

I am in a smaller branch of the church in a rural area. We have a small congregation so we like to stay involved with each other so that we can feel the spirit. It is sometimes difficult when there are not very many members in the area. I live my faith by trying never to miss a Sunday at church. It is my anchor for the rest of the week when I am not around people of my own faith, and especially around people who mock any faith. I mentioned earlier that I used to be a teacher, well, I teach children every Sunday. We teach a different subject every year. This year we have been studying the New Testament. My class is very enthusiastic, and loves to read and study the scriptures. I always have to be prepared and on my toes to answer their many questions. I also visit with other people in the church as often as possible so that I can gain strength from their faith in the gospel. I try to study and read and pray as often as I can to keep the Spirit with me when I am not at church. My husband and I will be together forever thanks to our membership in the church, and have a family that we care about very much that are also members of the church.
