Hi I'm Sheleen

I'm a mother of four kids including a set of identical twin boys. I love life and the great outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mother of four kids including a set of identical twin boys. I consider myself a kid at heart and love to do all the same things my kids like doing. We love to go camping, hiking, biking, swimming, playing in the dirt and throwing rocks into lakes and rivers together. We like exploring the world and learning about the things we see. My boys are into collecting bugs and my daughter just watched six caterpillars change into butterflies. We had a wild pet turtle for half a day and my husband keeps catching frogs and grasshoppers for my kids to play with. Its fun watching them laugh with pure delight on their faces as they chase these little critters around in our yard. I'm beginning to realize that there is no fulfillment in life as enriching as the role of mother and wife. I love being a mother regardless of the challenges. Each child is a miracle and a blessing.

Why I am a Mormon

I don't remember how old I was when I first questioned whether Heavenly Father really listened to my prayers. I remember kneeling down to pray in the middle of the afternoon wondering how Heavenly Father could hear my prayers and also hear other prayers at the same time. There are so many people in the world there was bound to be another person praying at just the same moment. I remember feeling like I was praying to empty space yet not understanding the warmth that I was feeling. That afternoon I went on my favorite bike ride up to a natural arch I took the Book of Mormon with me and read from Enos as I gazed across the valley from on top of the rocky hill. Once again I felt peace and I felt a stronger desire to kneel down and pray. I found a little outlet in the rocky hill and knelt down on my bag to provide padding for my knees. I'm not sure how long I prayed but I will never forget the feelings I felt. I received a confirmation of my own that Heavenly Father does listen to my prayers and knows me better than anyone. He knows my thoughts and feelings and if I turn to him he will be there to comfort me during difficult times and give me support. He will give me guidance and direction as I make important decisions. I know without a doubt that he hears our prayers and answers them. I know a testimony comes one step at a time and that it is important to receive that witness for ourself. I know that we are all here at this time to help each other along the way. I'm thankful for parents who have raised me well and have helped me to form habits that have helped to strengthen my own testimony. I hope that I can do the same for my own kids. I testify that Jesus is the Christ, the Savior of the world. I know that he bridged the gap and has made it possible for us to be with our families hereafter. He led a perfect life and is the perfect example for us all.

How I live my faith

Right now in my church I serve with a group of men and women that help to plan activities for the youth. Recently we planned a three day conference for over 800 youth. It was a lot of work yet it was a great experience for the leaders as well as the youth. We help plan dances, service projects, conferences and other activities allowing the youth to strengthen themselves spiritually and develop great friendships. I love working with the youth and their leaders. I'm amazed at the goodness I see in them as they strive to live the young women values and prepare themselves to make and keep sacred covenants within the temple.
