Hi I'm Susan,

I'm a Mormon. I'm a wife, mother, sister, grandmother, daughter. And I love life!

About Me

I am a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a journalist, a family history enthusiast, & an overall happy person. But I wasn't always as happy as I am now. After a year of college, I married, had five beautiful children, & suffered silently from an emotionally abusive marriage. After 21+ years of marital grief, our marriage ended. As a single mother, I was blessed to rediscover my strengths, talents & confidence. Seven years later, after my children were raised, I married a wonderful man. Together, we have discovered the joy of loving all TEN of our children, & 36 grandchildren! Life has taught me to face my greatest fears, & bask in the process with gratitude & faith!

Why I am a Mormon

As a little girl growing up in Oklahoma, I loved buffalo, chocolate milk, flowers & egg sandwiches...& I remember thinking what a beautiful world Heavenly Father created for me, & all His children. I had been taught that Heavenly Father loves me, & I could see His love all around me. The Gospel of Jesus Christ made me happy as a little girl, & continues to make me happy half a century later! Knowing that my Savior condescended to earth, to live as a humble mortal in order to show me the way, & redeem me from my sins, helps me understand the importance of mortality, & my potential in the eternities to come. My Savior loves me, & has provided a plan by which I can be happy, & return to my Heavenly Father someday. Because of this, I know I am a daughter of Heavenly Parents who love me. In spite of any pain experienced on earth, I know my Heavenly Parents value me, & that gives me a sense of great worth. The gospel of Jesus Christ blesses my life with peace and happiness that cannot be found in worldly treasures. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints blesses my life with purpose and joy.

How I live my faith

My faith allows me to serve others in many different capacities. For almost ten years, I have taught youth in early-morning seminary classes, where we study the scriptures, & develop testimonies of our Savior's redeeming love. I have also taught young women about the gospel - at camp, in church, & in various activities. Each month I have the privilege to visit with women in their home, where we share simple messages, & friendship one another. Currently, my husband & I are 'family history consultants,' where we are learning to share with others the joy of searching family histories. The gospel has always helped me 'stretch' beyond my comfort zones to learn & develop new skills, to reach out to help others, & to seek a deeper relationship with my Savior through study & prayer.
