Hi I'm Jim Miller

I am a lifetime resident of Southern California. My education and work experience is as a civil engineer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married to my childhood sweetheart and the grandfather of 11 children. My interests are diverse. Some include: - travel with my wife to less populated beaches, deserts and mountains - finding and collecting jade, beach glass, moonstones, and other minerals - searching for ancestor names and history - home gardening - hiking, camping, kayaking and fishing with my children and grandchildren - photography of family, scenic places, colorful plants, wildlife and objects of interesting color/shape/texture I enjoy helping others find their ancestors and have helped many discover their roots. It is exciting to see them react to each discovery.

Why I am a Mormon

I find great happiness in my membership in the Church of the Savior for many reasons. Foremost, it gives me clear direction in my life. It has also blessed my family with that same direction to help avoid the many sinful pitfalls of the world in which we live. I am now retired from my employment in a profession of service to the public and find happiness in the many opportunities I am given in the Church for continued service to members of our community and ward family. I know that Jesus Christ is my personal Savior and the only way by which I have an opportunity to receive eternal blessings. Of greatest importance to me, is the promised blessing to be with my family for eternity.

How I live my faith

I am a family history research resource to people in our community. Identifying our ancestors is an important part of what we do in the Church and it is natural to help others do the same. I have served in many different positions within the church including: family history missionary, bishop, bishop's counselor, high counselor, priesthood quorum leader, Sunday School leader and instructor and young men leader. My present Church responsibility is as a home teacher (I visit four families in our ward each month to give a brief gospel message and to assist them with temporal needs) and as a bishop's counselor (second time I have had this opportunity). I love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
