Hi I'm Benjamin

I am a return missionary who speaks Haitian Creole, a student at BYU-Idaho, my religion helps define who I am. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Mapleton, Utah. I served a mission in the Fort Lauderdale Florida area. I am fluent in Haitian Creole. I am currently attending Brigham Young University Idaho, studying computer science. I love music, I play the French Horn, and piano. The gospel of Jesus Christ defines who I am because it gives me purpose and direction to my life. I am motivated to share my beliefs because I know my beliefs will help individuals find peace and happiness.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member today because of the personal experiences I have had with feeling the truth of this message. I know that this church has the truth. I also have felt that Joseph Smith was the prophet called to restore the Church of Jesus Christ on the earth. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior, that he suffered for me personally. I have felt his atonement cleans me when I repent and, strengthen me when I have trials. I know that based on my obedience I can live with my Heavenly Father again, I want to share that knowledge with all people. I love my Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ. I live the best I can because of that knowledge.

How I live my faith

These are some of the volunteer opportunities I have had in the past. I served a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in southern Florida. I helped plan activities in my local church group. I served as an assistant ward clerk, or helped keep the records for my church group. I served as an Elder's Quorum 1st councilor, or helped oversee a group of men in serving and providing for the needs of the people in the area. I am currently serving as one of the building cleaning coordinators and on the music committee, or I help organize the music. I volunteer at the university I attend and stay involved helping individuals feel comfortable and welcome at school. Even more than all the things that I do to serve I attempt to live what I believe on a daily basis: I read my scriptures, pray, and write in my journal. I also attempt to be kind to all people, to see them as children of Heavenly Father, and equal. I repent, or change, when I make mistakes and, I try to understand and forgive others and their mistakes.

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

Benjamin
It is important to understand the difference between the gift of the Holy Ghost and, the power of the Holy Ghost. The gift of the Holy Ghost is what gives us the ability to become perfect through faith in Jesus Christ, and repentence. It is what helps us to learn all things. The power of the Holy Ghost gives us guidance and, comfort. The main difference between the gift of the Holy Ghost and, the power of the Holy Ghost is that; the gift of the Holy Ghost is always with us as we keep our promises with God, as opposed to the power of the Holy Ghost comes and, goes. We can only recieve the gift of the Holy Ghost after we are baptized by the proper priesthood authority. Once we recieve the gift of the Holy Ghost, we recieve more help from our Heavenly Father, for example it is easier to: overcome temptation, learn God's will for us, or have greater faith. How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Benjamin
The best way to know that God loves you is to ask him in prayer. I have found that it is the simple prayer from the heart that brings answers. One of the ways to recognize the answers from God is to listen with your heart. After you have finished praying take a minute to see how you feel. If you ask Heavenly Father if he loves you, you will feel his love. It will be the same feeling that you receive from those that love you except it will come from him. I know that Heavenly Father is there because I have felt his love. If you are struggling with receiving answers it may be that you need to correct the things you know are wrong. If you will keep the commandments you will recognize the answers that come. Heavenly Father loves us and he will always answer our prayers. Show more Show less
