Hi I'm Tomica Carroll

I'm married and the mother of 5 grown children, I just finished nursing school, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married 28 years and am the mom of 5 grown children ages 16-27. I was a full time stay at home mom and loved it. Two of my children are married and I have 2 grandchildren. When my youngest was 12, I went back to school to become a nurse. It was fun to be in college with 2 of my children at the same time. I have recently graduated and am working at a local hospital. I love to stay active by exercising; walking, jogging and weight lifting. When I take a break, I love to play with my grandkids, read clean romance/mystery books, go camping, and visit Sedona.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in a Navy family, I was exposed to many different types of people through all my travels. I was 16 when my father retired and I met a girl who was LDS. She invited me to sing in their choir at church. As I began to attend church, I was very interested in the messages being taught; they seemed so familiar to me. I had read my bible on my own as a youth, and attended church occasionally with my mom growing up, but I had so many questions: why am I here on earth? where was I before I came to earth?and what happens after we die? Each Sunday, as I listened to the messages taught, I was given answers to these questions. I wanted to get all the information at once and my friend told me about the work the missionaries do in teaching about the Mormon church. My family and I attended the discussions that they taught, and with my parents permission, I was baptised. Being the only member in my family had its challenges, but I tried to be a good example of what I believed, and it made me a better daughter and sister. I met a guy in my congregation and we started to date, My parents really liked him and were happy when we were married in the temple. I have been a member for 31 years. During this time, I have never wavered in my testimony of my Savior Jesus Christ and his atonement. I firmly believe that this is his church, restored in its fulness as was prophesied in the Old Testament.

How I live my faith

Living my life is about trying to be the best person I can be. I find the guidance I need to accomplish this by reading my scriptures and following the counsel of prophets, both those who are living and those who have passed on. To have a living prophet on the earth is an amazing thing. I have served in many ways as I have tried to follow the example of Jesus. I have taught little childrenand teenagers in a Sunday school setting, run sports programs for the young woman, been president of the children's organization in our congregation, helped with compassionate service for those in need. Whether the assisnment was big or small, I tried to be receptive to the promtings of the Holy Ghost to know how best to accomplish the will of my Heavenly Father. My husband and I have raised our 5 children living the gospel. We have attended church every Sunday, taught them the principles of the Gospel, encouraged them in making good and righteous decisions, and have always strived to be living examples of the things that we taught.
