Hi I'm Lori

I started going to church with a neighbor when I was 6 yrs old and from that experience I was baptized at age 8. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of 4 kids. I have a wonderful husband who is a strong member of the church. I am a paramedic/firefighter but my greatest joy is my family and my beautiful grandbaby. I started going to church when I was 6 yrs old with a neighbor and loved it. I continued to go and within the year my whole family started going too. My parents and 3 siblings all joined the church and now there are many in our family who have the gospel in their lives.

Why I am a Mormon

I was young when I joined the church but I felt something special when I went to church. It wasn't till my senior year in high school that I actually had a true testimony of the fulness and truth of the gospel. I went to seminary (a religious class) before school every morning. We were studying the New Testiment in the Bible and our teacher encouraged us to not just read about the Saviors life but get to know Him personally. I took that challenge and by the end of the year I knew with all my heart that the Savior lives and that this is His true gospel on the earth today.

How I live my faith

I go to church each Sunday and enjoy the lessons that I hear. Unfortunately I do have to work some Sundays and I'm not able to attend but I do try to read the scriptures at work and try to read uplifting books. I do have a group of girls that I meet with twice a month and help them learn important skills and lessons they will help them in years to come. We have about 15 girls that come and their ages range from 8 yrs old to 11 yrs old. I work with three other ladies from the church and we truely enjoy working with these girls. The girls learn things like how to make homemade tortillas, bake desserts, simple dinners to how to clean and it also helps them understand how special they are and how much they are loved by their Heavenly Father. I have had many different jobs in the church and I have always learned from them. The women in the church have a unique oportunity to help each other. I am assigned three different sisters in the ward that I visit and watch over each month. I have a companion who goes with me and if there is ever a need with someone we visit we can help her or find someone that can. It's a wonderful program that helps families that might need a little extra love or support through a diffecult time. I look forward to chuch each week and try to live by its teachings. The gospel is perfect but the people are not, I just hope that through my actions people would want to know more about the church because they see something different in me that brings peace.
