Hi I'm Clinton

I'm a Texan. I'm a Data Scientist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love my family, and have fun playing with them. I love to play soccer, and I enjoy baking and cooking.

Why I am a Mormon

The gospel has always been a great inspiration in my life. I work with optimization and computer algorithms, and one thing that recurringly appears in problems is trying to find a global optimum amidst many local optima. A simple search for the best solution will often get stuck where it appears to be the best in the immediate area, though the true solution is much better. This gospel teaches me how there is much more to life than just this mortal life, and that provides a perspective allowing me to see the global optimum of life: eternal joy with my family. And the happiness I have found in working towards that goal is much greater than what I could find pursuing the things that this world offers.

How I live my faith

I teach the class called Gospel Principles. It is a great joy to study the basic tenets of the gospel as I prepare my lessons, and even greater to share the insights I find with those in the class. I am constantly reminded that these principles remain the same; God really is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and that is a great comfort to me. I also have the opportunity to visit families as a home teacher, and consider these families to be good friends. I enjoy visiting with them, and I really love the feeling of the Spirit when we share a gospel message with them every month. And the opportunity to serve them when they need help is one of the most rewarding things I do outside my own family.
