Hi I'm David

I was a raised in a bilingual household, I'm training to become a Pediatric Gastroenterologist and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Texas all my life in a family of 4 children. My mom and dad are both converts and met several years after my dad's mission service in South America, Ecaudor. I am very proud of my partial hispanic heritage. I went to school to be an architect but all changed while I was serving a mission trip to Madrid, Spain. I decided I enjoyed serving others and at the age of 22 decided to become a physician. I met my wife in college and we have been married for almost 10 years. We have 4 children that keep us young and full of adventures almost daily.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church and although I am not a "convert" in the sense that I belonged to another faith and was later baptized, I believe strongly that we must all decide at some point what we believe in. For me that occured as a teenager prior to serving a mission. I began reading, praying and pondering the teachings of the scriptures, Bible and Book of Mormon. As I prayed I felt a confirmation, a peace that what I was learning was true. That testimony or conviction is even stronger today. I love this church and all that is stands for. I know that Jesus Christ is at the head and lovingly guides us through a living prophet today. I am comforted knowing that our Heavenly Father has a plan for us that explains why we are here and where we came from as well as where we are going. It brings me joy that families can be together forever, that death is part of the plan and not an end. In this church you are part of a family no matter where you live or where you come from. We love one another and help one another.

How I live my faith

Currently I have been given the responsibility to help with the younger aged men in our congregation. I serve through helping organize activities, lessons for Sundays and whatever else is needed. Although life is busy and and can be challenging to balance family, work and church I find every opportunity to serve in the church very rewarding. I try to maintain perspective no matter where I am and know that I am a child of God and that each and every person around me is my brother and sister. I strive to find the good in everyone and make sure they know that about themselves because that is what Christ would want me to do. I love this life we have been given and all the opportunities we have to better ourselves and those around us!
