Hi I'm Teresa

I am a teacher and a farmer, but my favorite responsibility is being a mother and grandmother. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Mesa, AZ. We lived on the edge of town on a farm, swam in the irrigation canal and drove motorcycles along the dirt canal road. Along with my brothers and sisters, I learned to chop weeds, irrigate the crops and drive a tractor. We visited often with my grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. I have always valued family as a most important part of life. I enjoyed school and have many teachers in my family, so I chose that as my profession. I attended Mesa Community College, Brigham Young University, and graduated with a BA in Elementary Education from Arizona State University. In 1974, I met my future husband and we married. He was also a farmer and I was willing to following him out to a remote area of the SW Arizona desert to live and farm. We had seven children, six sons and a daughter, who all enjoyed their rural upbringing. We had a small church congregation in the valley and we all loved being in the branch. Our family was quite involved with the Boy Scouts and all of our sons became Eagle Scouts. They all learned to work on the farm and became very involved with sports in high school. I like to work out of doors gardening and doing projects to beautify my backyard. I love riding ATV's on the sand dunes near our farm. One of my favorite activities is to ride up the hill just above my home and watch the sunset from the hilltop. I always feel such gratitude to my Heavenly Father for the beauty of the earth and the blessings that I have been given.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have felt blessed to have the gospel of Jesus Christ to guide my life. I want to tell others that the best thing I did for my children is to share the gospel with them and help them learn to live it. I have seen how disobedience to God's commandments can bring heartache and trials into the lives of families. Drugs, alcohol, infidelity, and dishonesty cause so many problems for people, but all of those can be avoided by living the teaching of the church. I read a lot and have learned to love the scriptures. I have read the Bible many times and love the teaching it contains. I also have read the Book of Mormon many times. I feel the truth of it as I read the words of Christ. I believe anyone who has studied the Bible in depth and reads the Book of Mormon with a sincere heart, will come to know the truth of its teachings. The more I learn, the more I believe. God has given us prophets and scriptures to show us the way to live so we can return to live with him after we complete our experiences on earth. I feel it is a great help to have prophets today to guide us. I know God loves us and wants us to keep His commandments.

How I live my faith

I try to live my life to show that I am a Christian in word and deed. I have been involved with teaching youth for most of my life. As a school teacher, after my children were in school, I tried to help my students feel loved and important. I have helped with advancement in the Boy Scouts and taken many groups of young women to summer church girl's camp. I wanted our home to be a place our children could bring their friends to be comfortable. I enjoy cooking and baking a sharing that with others.
