Hi I'm Marisol

My greatest joy is being a mom and wife. I'm a school teacher. I'm a friend, neighbor, and dancer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I began Mexican Foklorico dancing when I was 5. I danced through college and traveled around the world performing with my husband. I then began my next greatest love and passion, being a mom. I loved being an active part of my boys' life. However, economic circumstances required me to go back to my profession of teaching. Now I have the opportunity to love hundreds of kids, including my own. I feel stretched to my limits as I juggle being a professional and being mom and wife. However, I've been blessed with a supportive, loving husband who carries the load alongside me. I also have boys who love their mom and try to help out (although at times their helping causes more headaches LOL). I've especially been blessed with the knowledge that I AM A CHILD OF GOD and my Father in Heaven is here to support me every step of the way.

Why I am a Mormon

Since I was a girl I knew deep inside that there is a God who loves me. As I grew and observed my life, I could see His hand involved in every aspect of my life. His mercy and aid are countless and have been very real, especially in times of distress and sorrow. I remember going to church when I was about 23 years old. I was watching the dedication of the Navoo Temple with my husband. The choir began singing the hymn "Praise to the Man". My heart burned and my chest felt as if it would burst. My eyes flowed with tears and the emotion I felt is indescribable. But I've never forgotten that witness that Joseph Smith was a prophet called of God. I know that God restored the fullness of His gospel through him, Joseph Smith. And because God loves me, He's provided me with this knowledge; that I may know how to return to His presence.

How I live my faith

My faith is shown in every aspect of my life. As I speak kind words to my family or those around me I show my faith in God. As I continue forward in life and the weight of the challenges before me seem as though they will crush me, I show my faith in God. As I kneel and plead for God's help and kneel again to thank Him for His merciful hand and watchful eye, I show my faith in God. It is the ordinary things I do each day that are made extraordinary by His grace.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

The best answer to this is found in the Bible as the Savior gives the parable of the good Samaritan (Luke 10: 29-37). The Lord has commanded us and has shown us through example to love our neighbor as ourselves. This includes both members of the church and those not of our faith. Many years ago my husband and I owned our own business. It went under 2 weeks before Christmas. We lost everything with the business. We couldn't even buy Christmas gifts for our boys. I took consolation in that they were young and Christmas presents didn't mean much to them yet. Christmas Eve we received a knock at our door. When we answered no one was there. Someone had left a large box with food and gifts. I couldn't believe it as very few people knew of our distress. There was a card for my husband and I. Listed were the names of donors whom I did not know. Who would give so generously to a stranger... to me? Someone who followed the counsel of the Savior when he said, "Go ye and do likewise".
