Hi I'm Phil

Yup, I'm a Mormon. And besides that I am a husband, father and a student.

About Me

I am married to a wonderful wife. Together we have two happy children who keep us active. I work full time and am a graduate student. I enjoy the outdoors and can be found hiking, fishing or off road driving in my spare time. I volunteer with search and rescue and work with young people at church. I travel often and enjoy exploring new parts of the world. I have a lot to learn about being a father, a husband, and time management. Despite everything going on I find time to go to church every week to recharge my spirit. I am an opinionated news junkie. I look forward to retirement in thirty years when I can sit on a row boat in the middle of a lake fishing all day in a place with no cell phone coverage. I like good music and food. Yup, still a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

Like many others I was born into a family who were already members of the LDS faith. I found my own testimony in my teenage years when the time came to find out for myself if the Book of Mormon was true, if the Church of Jesus Christ had been restored to the earth, and if Jesus Christ was my personal Savior. I received a spiritual witness through the comforting feelings of the Holy Ghost as I prayed to God to find out. The confirmation that I am on the right path has come many times over through small miracles in my life. Everything from knowing that I should serve the Lord as a missionary, or the decision to marry my wife has been guided by that same spirit. As someone who likes to find out things for myself, it was important that I gain a personal understanding of the truth of Gods message.

How I live my faith

I work with the youth of the church. I enjoy teaching and hope that my Sunday school lesson can play a small part in influencing them for good. We get outside as a group and apply the lessons from the church to everyday life. Most importantly, as a father, I team up with my wife to teach our children and guide them through this world. I live my faith everyday, it is who I am and what I am all about. You guessed it, still a Mormon.
