Raquel: Mormon.

Hi I'm Raquel

About Me

I was born in Puerto Rico with Argentinian and American heritage. I moved to California when i was 9 months old and have visited Puerto Rico and Argentina. I speak English and Spanish fluently and am now teaching Spanish to my children and their friends at school. I have 2 wonderful children, a boy and a girl. I care for another girl from my daughter's school. I'm happily married to a wonderful man. I love my family. I play the guitar and sing. I love music.

Why I am a Mormon

For years I felt like i was missing something important. I went to college and met my future husband and i started learning from the missionaries. I struggled with feeling what they were teaching me was right and "knowing" that what I had been taught growing up was right. I was baptized. I knew that what i felt was right was true. All my questions were answered perfectly. I wasn't missing anything anymore. I know that the Mormon church is true. I know that my Heavenly Father showed me what He knew I needed, what He knew i was looking for. I know that my Heavenly Father loves me. When my father died, i was comforted to know that he was still with me. That he never left me, just like my Heavenly Father will never leave me. It comforts and makes me proud to know that my Heavenly Father chose my children to come to me. I'm so very thankful to have this knowledge and to be able to share it.

Personal Stories

How has your knowledge of the Plan of Happiness changed/benefited your life?

When I learned about the Plan of Happiness, i was so happy. After my dad died, i understood where he went and that all of this was a part of the Plan of Happiness. I was given a promise. The Plan of happiness is a promise.

What are you doing to help strengthen your family and make it successful?

We read Scriptures together and we pray together often. We invite the Spirit to be with us and feel His Spirit with us and helps us to be closer and stronger. We are careful of what we watch and read and what our children watch and read. We chose good books to our children every night.

How I live my faith

I teach Spanish in my daughter's Kindergarten class. As a family, we read the scriptures every night. When we've completed all the chapters in a book of the Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants or Pearl of Great Price, we add a paper chain to our existing ring for every chapter and the title of the book. Currently I have a note writing Visit Teaching assignment. I would love to one day meet these blessed women. I organize and print our branch bulletin. I love to be able to do this so that others will have a visual reminder of what's coming up during the month.
