Hi I'm Joy

Small town girl in the big city. Full time worker, part-time Grad student, traveler, cook, runner, country dancer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

With a Bachelors Degree in Finance, I am blessed to be a Corporate Card Program Administrator. Currently working on an MBA, I love to learn and apply the things I learn to my current job and Gospel Principles. I love to cook, especially for other people. My favorite thing to do is to try new recipes and not follow them, giving each one my own special spin. I have learned how great it feels to be fit and eat healthy. This has led to an enjoyment of running and a passion for dancing. During school breaks I am often found at the local Country Swing Dance club letting guys throw me around the dance floor. Traveling is a dream and occasionally reality. I love seeing new places and checking out the great local restaurants, museums, and shops. Any chance I get to travel (for cheap) I try to take it. When I can't create new stories for myself through travel, I love movies and tv. I have an active imagination and love the new ideas and funny situations good movies and tv can offer. Above all I love spending time with friends doing any number of the above mentioned things. I don't have a husband or kids, but I do have 16 nieces and nephews that I love to spend time with and spoil whenever I can. Someday I do hope to get married and start a family of my own because I have seen how happy my brothers and sisters are in their families and I want that for myself too. The Gospel and family are the most important things in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I haven't found more true and lasting happiness or joy in any other aspect of my life. When I am down because business is bad or lonely because I haven't been on a date in a while, I have learned that I can turn to the scriptures or go to the temple and a whole new perspective opens up. The Gospel teaches us about the things that are truly important in this life. God is first and foremost and not only does He know us, but He will never leave us. Because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ we can turn to Him and know that He understands us completely. We know that we keep commandments because God has told us that if we do those things that we will be happy. The Gospel also teaches us that we must serve and help one another and that we are never alone. In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints I know there is always someone I can call on if I need help. I know that this I God's church on the earth today because nothing else has ever made me feel as good as this. I know that an organization of this size and magnitude could never had lasted through the persecution and trial it has been through if it was not established by Jesus Christ himself. I know God live and that He loves us. I know that Jesus Christ is His Son and I know this because I have felt the Holy Ghost testify of these things to me in very real ways.

How I live my faith

Just Endure. Life is hard and painful and people are hurtful and arrogant. But when I keep the commandments and endure by remembering the Savior in all my struggles, I feel good and I know that I will be blessed. I learned early on that when we serve others, our lives don't look so bad. It is like putting on bright yellow sunglasses after wearing ones that made everything look blue or grey. During my trials I try to serve others realizing that my life isn't so bad. I have been able to do this in church and in my community. The Church makes serving the easiest and most fun thing to do. I get to meet tons of wonderful young women and men and just be there for them and they for me. It is a wonderful feeling just to know that someone is watching out for you and I love being that person.
