Hi I'm Katie

I'm a poor college student livin' the dream. I'm a lover of music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi! I'm a college student studying Choral Education with the hopes of becoming an Elementary School Music Teacher. Music is my love! That along with the Gospel, Harry Potter, my awesome friends and family, being random, and underwater basket weaving.

Why I am a Mormon

My life's theme scripture has become, Psalms 3: 5&6, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding; in all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths." I was born into the church, but that doesn't mean that I instantly had a rock solid testimony of it. It wasn't until my Junior year of high school that I really decided that I had better gain true faith for myself. It didn't come in a huge moment where light descended from the sky and I beheld angels and that's how I absolutely knew. It was in the little things. Things like reading my scriptures, praying to our Heavenly Father, going to church. I think it's so wonderful that in a crazy crazy world, we can use these simple things to give us strength and peace. I know that I have a Father in Heaven. I know that Christ died for us and atoned for our sins. He has promised that we can be made whole again, and I love that. I have felt his arms around me and I never would ever want to stray from that loving embrace. The warmth and love that I experience when I come to His outstretched arms is like no other. I wish that everyone in the world could feel that love! Life is hard and I don't know how people can go through every day without that love and assurance. I don't know every detail of my future, but He does. He loves me and He loves all of His children! I can't wait for that day when I get to return to his magnificent presence and sing praises to Him. But until then, I'm going to put my trust in the Lord, and won’t lean onto my own understandings of things. In all my ways I will acknowledge Him, and I know He will direct my paths.

How I live my faith

I am a ward missionary, which is awesome because that means I get to talk to different kinds of people all the time. I love getting to know people and I think it's the best calling because being a new college student away from home for the first time is hard, but I get to be friends with people and bring them love and joy of the gospel! How could it get better than that?
