Hi I'm Katelyn

I attend BYU-Idaho, I'm a Theatre Major, I'm all-around CRAZY and I'm a Mormon. (:

About Me

I'm currently attending BYU-Idaho and I'm Majoring in Theatre (Yes I am spelling it correctly). I was bitten by the theatre bug when I was 6-years-old and I've loved it ever since. I absolutely love BYU-I's Theatre Department and everyone in it! Almost everyone here is as wild as I am, so it's really nice having other people share in my weird-ness. But besides theatre, I also love to sing, play tennis, rock climb, hike, horseback ride and many other things. I love the outdoors! I'm also a Whovian. I LOVE Doctor Who! So I'm slightly a nerd. But hey! We all have a little nerd in us just waiting to come out.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been in the church my whole life, but I am technically considered a convert because I was baptised at age 12. This is because my dad wanted to wait to make sure I was willing to join the church. Most people that I've talked to think that because the church has so many rules we can't do anything. But I don't see the rules as rules. I see them more as guidelines to keep us on the straight an narrow path. God binds us to set us free, Satan only gives the illusion that we are free, when we're really in his clutches of wickedness unable to move. I have seen my fair share of wickedness, and without the church I'd be a train-wreck. The teachings of Christ have helped me in so many ways, I don't even know where to begin. Whenever I'm having a hard day, or just tired of all the drama that goes on during the day, from either school, home, or work, nothing helps me more than praying and reading the Book of Mormon. Praying and reading the scriptures always brings me comfort when I need it. I know that my Heavenly Father hears my prays and no matter what, He'll always be there for me.

How I live my faith

I love to serve and help others. Charity is something that always make me happy. I find that when I'm upset, helping other people makes me have a brighter outlook on life. Knowing that I brought a some happiness to someone really brings me joy. I believe serving others is the best way to live your faith, because it shows humility and gratitude. I have also decided to serve a 18 month mission, and will be serving in the Arizona, Tempe Mission. I'm very excited to serve the Lord!

What is faith?

Faith is kind of hard to explain at times. But what I think it is, is believing in something that you can't see or hear. To have faith it takes trust, confidence, and a willingness to act on your belief. Show more Show less
