Hi I'm Annette

I grew up in Utah and studied to become an elementary school teacher. I'm always game for a good adventure. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in the beautiful state of Colorado with my husband and two little girls. I love to go running with friends, skiing with my husband, and camping with my family. Being outside early in the morning and watching the sunrise while I get in an early morning workout is the best way to start my day. I get a thrill out of meeting my goals and just qualified for the Boston Marathon. Who knows what I can do next!

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ my entire life. Every member of my family and extended family have been Mormons. My ancestors crossed the plains as pioneers and helped settle Utah. It's all I've ever known, but I wouldn't change it for anything. I have always had a strong understanding of who I am. I am a Mormon. Growing up my dad always told me that life is easier when it's lived right. As the years have gone by I am beginning to understand what he means. Living the commandments, following the word of God, and listening to the prophet provide direction and security in my life. I know who I am. I know my standards. And I know that by following the guidance provided by the Church I have avoided many of the pitfalls of Satan. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior. I know that he died for me, and loves me with all his heart. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that through him the church of Jesus Christ was restored as we know it today. I know this church is true. I know that by the power of God he translated the Book of Mormon and that it is a real account of real people who lived in the Americas. It is a true book of scripture given to us by our Heavenly Father to help us return to live with Him. I know that we have a living prophet on the earth, President Monson, and that he speaks the word of God. And I know that by living the commandments and do what the Lord has asked us to do, we can return to live with him for eternity.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving in our church by helping the youth, specifically the 12-13 year old girls. I teach some of their lessons on Sundays, but I mainly organize weekly activities for them. Our activities are very diverse from one another; some weeks we simply play games with each other to become better friends, some weeks we serve in our community, and other weeks we work on improving a specific skill. Over the summer we organized a book club and trained to run a 5K race. But the main goal behind all of our activities is to draw us closer to our Savior, Jesus Christ, and to strengthen our testimonies of Him. Serving the youth has been my favorite responsibility in the church so far. I love seeing the light and hope in their eyes. I love watching them learn and grow. I love watching them as they discover that they too, have a love for Jesus Christ, and strive to become more like him. However, living my faith isn't just limited to my church responsibilities. My faith plays a large part in how I live my life. I try to be involved in activities that I know will help me become a better person, and avoid those activities or situations that I know may drive away the spirit and leave me feeling despondent. I strive to have peace and light in my life, and I strive to teach my children how important it is to have the light of God in your life.
