Hi I'm Steven

I'm a Historian. I play classical guitar. I'm a father and husband and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my whole life. I have lived in Idaho, Utah, Texas, Ohio, West Virginia and Zweibruecken and Heidelberg Germany. I have worked as a U.S. Army Civil Servant in the Resource Management Field for over 37 Years. I am a Husband and Father with a beautiful family of seven children and seven grandchildren who I love and adore. I enjoy history, genealogy and playing Classical Guitar and every other type of music on the guitar. I truly love working on guitar pieces by Regondi, Ponce, Sor, Barrios, Guiliani , Bach, and Torroba among others. It provides me great joy to play beautiful and rich music from such great masters of the instrument. I believe music is a gift from Heavenly Father and should be shared readily and well. I also am a student of the history of the United States and Europe with emphasis on LDS origins and teachings. Having spend more than 40 years in its pursuit. My greatest joy and happiness comes from my family the success of my children in all aspects of life in music, history , art and family living. The Lord Jesus Christ has truly blessed me and my family in everything and I am truly thankful for his continued guidance, direction and love he gives us daily.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a fifth generation member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Even though I was born into the Church and I come from a family who follow the Lord's Gospel I am truly converted to the Lord's teachings, Gospel and example. I know that our Heavenly Father lives and our Elder Brother Jesus Christ is his Son and is our Savior and Redeemer. I love all of the scriptures of the Church including the Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price and know they contain the words of the Lord and the teachings, admonitions and writings of inspired Prophets, Apostles and teachers. I took the admonition of Moroni contained in the Book of Mormon in Moroni 10: 4-5 which says that "And when ye shall receive these things I would exhort you that ye would ask God the Eternal Father in the name of Christ if these things are not true and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by the power of the Holy Ghost you may know the truth of all things." I have prayed and know that the Book of Mormon is true and contains the words of the Savior and is another testament of his life, mission, atonement and glory. I love the fact the that our family can be forever if we all so live for that blessing. I also know that we can communicate to our Father in Heaven through prayer and there are miracles among us each day through his answers to us. I am a Mormon because I love the Savior and as our Primary song says "I am trying to be like Jesus". I also know that we have living Prophets and that God speaks to man today as he has throughout the ages. One other aspect of the Church that I love is that no matter where we as a family go we always have an extended family in the wards, stakes and branches. I also know that in our Temples we can do work for those who cannot do it here - God loves all his children in all ages.

How I live my faith

As a member of the Church I serve as a worker in our Temples for many sacred ordinances such as baptisms, marriages, and instructions. I enjoy attending our local meetings on Sunday to partake of the Sacrament in our Sacrament meetings and both teach and attend Sunday School and our Priesthood Meetings. We in the Church are a lay ministry and I hold the office of a High Priest and serve as an instructor, missionary and visit homes of the various members within the boundaries of our local congregation which we call a ward. I love serving others in many ways from working at our Church Farm or Bishop's Storehouse or just being a good neighbor to all. Being a member of the Church is a daily and life long commitment of Scripture study, prayer, family prayer, and serving our Lord in anything we are called to do. At work or anywhere I strive to do all in my power to be a disciple of Christ put into effect the admonition of our Savior to Love God with all my heart and my neighbor as myself. I believe that through small and simple things and acts of kindness to all we meet are great things brought to pass and we can truly bring joy to many. Music is also a great part of our worship and I love the Hymns and their testimony and truths. The Spirit of the Lord is present in all of our Sacred music and as our scriptures teach the "Song of the Righteous is a prayer unto our Father. I also consider our home and family as an important part of our faith. I know that we can be together forever as a family when we live as our Lord and our Heavenly Father would have us do.
