Hi I'm Gifford Gillette

Life is good and oftentimes great. I am an Idaho boy, a father of 3 boys, an outdoor and sports enthusiast, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I married a girl whose parents are from Mexico. All four of my brothers speak Spanish except me, go figure. I am a father of three energetic boys. I prefer to be outdoors and moving (playing sports) which makes my job as "Dad" pretty easy. Only one of my sons is old enough to play catch but we can all wrestle. Ever since growing up on a potato farm, nature has captured my interest. My wife makes it possible for me to pursue this passion, hence, I am finishing a Ph.D degree in wildlife research. I work hard and play harder.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I went through some difficult experiences when I was 12 years old. My parents were going through a divorce and I needed strength. Family was my world at age 12 and the concept of a broken home was beyond my comprehension. If the notion of family, as I understood it, wasn't true, then what was true? The good examples in my life (mostly family members and close friends) had all taught me that I could come to know truth if I sought it with a sincere heart and real intent. I learned truth for myself through study and prayer. Truth, as revealed by the Holy Ghost, has brought me strength and is something no one can take away from me.

How I live my faith

I teach a class on gospel doctrine once or twice a month during Sunday worship services. I also visit 2 families once a month to share a spiritual message and let them know if they need anything they can call on me anytime. I take opportunities to serve as a volunteer both within my community and as asked by other members of the church. I try my best to "go about doing good" after I take care of my primary responsibilities as a father and husband.
