Hi I'm Mark

I live in Southern California and I love to fish and scuba dive. I work in the treatment and therapy industry and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

As I think about over my life I can honestly say that things have turned out a lot better than I ever anticipated. I grew up a typical kind of kid from a typical family. My parents used to drop us off at church and then come pick us up when it was over. Through a turn of events I was introduced to the missionaries as a young man. I met other youth who were members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I learned that these friends we just like other friends of mine except that lived a little different than the rest. They lived traditional values which impressed me and excelled in school and athletics just as I wanted. I learned from them you can be an active church member while still participating in regular activities. I ended up being baptized and serving a mission which changed my life. My parents were hesitant about my church activity and in time became very proud of their 'mormon son'. I married a wonderful LDS young woman in the LA Temple and now have seven children. God has helped me in my career and my life has so richly blessed. I believe what a prophet of God stated when he said, “Men and women who turn their lives over to God will discover that He can make a lot more out of their lives than they can. He can deepen their joys, expand their vision, quicken their minds, strengthen their muscles, lift their spirits, multiply their blessings, increase their opportunities, comfort their souls, and pour out peace.” I know this statement is true.

Why I am a Mormon

When the missionaries came to teach my sister and myself I was a young of twelve. I was interested in sports and friends as most of my friends were. I was not really interested in religion. But an amazing thing happened as the missionaries taught us. They shared the story of Joseph Smith and his desire to know the truth. As I listened I became enthralled with what they were saying. My mind and heart seemed to feel something very different than anything I ever experienced. I felt that God was in fact talking with me. The missionaries left me with a pamphlet to read. I did so and the same feeling came over me. As suggested by the missionaries I knelt to ask God if what I was learning was true. As I knelt on that hardwood floor next to my bed and prayed, I felt the most warm and peaceful feeling. I again, felt that God was talking to me. I felt inspired but as a young man though I did not use that word... I felt excited but a peace in my heart at the same time. I know I have felt the Holy Ghost in my heart and in my mind. I felt something I have a hard time describing in words but unmistakable and undeniable. I have experienced that and similar feelings since that time. I feel that same spirit when I go to church. I feel that same feeling as I read the scriptures and when I listen to our Church leaders. I wish I had the words to use to convince all my family and friends that what I have experienced and felt is true and that they can experience this peace of mind and guidance from God our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. Today, my knowledge is greater and so is my faith. I know that God speaks to us today through a Prophet of God and Apostles of Jesus Christ. Just as in ancient days so it is today. I have come to know with all my heart that this is so. Jesus Christ has re-established his Church. He needed to because His truths were changed by men. That is why we have so many different churches today. Find our for yourself.

How I live my faith

Most members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints serve in the Church in some way. Today, I teach high school students in a religion class before school. This year's course of study is the Bible. We as a Church believe in the teachings of the Bible. I love teaching and helping the youth see how kind and forgiving Jesus Christ lives. How much he loves them and wants them to be strong. Jesus Christ wants them to be good examples so that others will look at their behavior and beliefs and come to Christ themselves. I find that life is both full of happy times and struggling times. When life feels overwhelming and challenging we can all turn to God our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ. They will always be there for us. I feel that I learn and grow by helping serve at Church. I have found that my life is better when I am helping another. I find an inner peace when I try to help another find Christ and learn his gospel. I have served in the Church in many different ways. I have taught youth and adults in Sunday School. I served as a Bishop for our congregation and that was a remarkable experience. In addition to my full time job of helping young people and their families find therapeutic treatment services, I would spend many hours each week meeting with members of our congregation. The Lord wanted me to help every family and every person feel his love. This is the really the job of every bishop. No member is alone... no member has to carry the burden by themselves. Everyone needs the support of a loving congregation to help them learn and raise a family. The Church is a place for us to learn, to feel support and love. A place to help our family live the way we desire. A place that is for imperfect people who desire to follow Jesus Christ our Savior with sincerity. Church helps us all to get back up and keep striving when things are hard and life is challenging. I love to go to Church each Sunday!
