Hi I'm Heather

I live in the Bay Area working as an event planner. My passions are music, cooking, crafting, and photography. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah with loving parents and three younger brothers. Our family loved taking road trips to national parks and monuments throughout the western United States, discovering new places and seeing many sites. I studied music in college, playing the flute in orchestras, wind ensembles, flute ensembles, and any other kind of group you can think of. I ate, slept, and breathed music. I love the way that I am able to express myself through music - my deepest emotions can be painted with with simple notes and beautiful melodies. I currently work as an event planner, putting my ability to think through the details and complete scope of events to create something that is successful and fruitful. I love multi-tasking, problem solving, and helping others succeed as they become part of something that is a collection of ideas and talents. I have a passion for travel and seek opportunities to do humanitarian work in different parts of the world. I have worked with orphans and vulnerable childeren in Zambia, Africa, learning of their culture and loving the people of that amazing country instantly. I've also worked with some of those who suffer from leprosy in India, cleaning their wounds, hearing their stories, and watching them achieve life goals. This is one of the most fulfilling things in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that we have a Heavenly Father and a Savior in Jesus Christ. I love Them and know that they love me. I feel guided and directed in my life because of this love. I feel purpose. I feel motivation. I feel patience with others because of my understanding of who I am. My journey to discover what I knew to be true began at a young age and has continued throughout my life. It's hard for me to pinpoint an exact time or experience that was the turning point or the main reason for being a Mormon. For me it was more of many, many small experiences that all add up to my knowledge of who I am and why I am here on this earth. My testimony of this gospel was solidified as I served as a missionary, teaching and testifying of Jesus Christ daily for 18 months. I served in Oklahoma, Missouri, and Arkansas, and grew quickly to love the people of this region. The greatest thing that I gleaned from this experience, was a powerful feeling everytime I met someone new that God loved him/her and was aware of him/her. What a beautiful thing to discover and feel. I feel loved and empowered as I pray to my Heavenly Father. I feel guided and directed by Him in all that I do - both personally and professionally. The atonement of Jesus Christ is for EVERYONE.

How I live my faith

Every aspect of my life is shaped by being a Mormon. I love going to church each week and appreciate the opportunities that I have to serve there. I am currently the ward choir director. We sing songs or praise and feel the strength that comes through the power of music. In the past I've had the opportunity to plan numerous events for my ward, including events for all single adults in the Bay Area - to get to know each other better and to learn more things of the gospel. There are so many other opportunities that I have to serve in the community through church - tutoring elementary and junior high school age kids, cleaning up our neighborhoods, giving blood (just to name a few). We make sure we are doing our part to give back and be good citizens.
