Hi I'm Steve

I'm a retired college teacher. I love old cars and my family, and not necessarily in that order. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a father of five, with a wife of 40+ years. I had the opportunity as a young man to get a good education, and thankfully put in the time and effort to get the degrees. I spent my working career teaching young people how to make a living fixing cars. I feel blessed that I was able to make a living helping others while pursuing my hobby as a total gearhead. I have always had a fascination with engines and speed. One of my favorite activities is car shows, where I can share my passion with others who just love cars, especially old ones.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a solid LDS family, with loving parents that taught me right from wrong. I grew up being taught the Gospel in our home, and was a faithful church-goer. But I still had to gain my own testimony of the truth. I can't say it came in a sudden flash, but rather grew gradually as I studied the scriptures and prayed for knowledge. As I learned more of other's beliefs, the pure simplicity and logic of our Father's plan for us became apparent to me. I had the privelege of spending a couple of years sharing this knowledge with others south of the border, and seeing how it changed their lives for the better further reinforced my testimony. I certainly have my weaknesses, but I'm grateful to know that a loving Father and Brother were willing to make great sacrifices to help me overcome them and become more like Them.

How I live my faith

In my life, I've had the opportunity to serve in the church in many ways. As a younger adult, I served in several leadership roles with the youth in the church. Later, I served in several callings with the younger adult men, both as a leader and in supporting roles. In my middle age, I served as a clerk and as a counselor in ward leadership and as a council member at a stake level. Now that I'm retired, I serve as a missionary leader for our ward, and my wife and I plan to someday serve as full-time missionaries for a while. I try to live my faith every day by being a good person, obeying the Lord's commandments, and being a good neighbor and friend to those around me.
