Hi I'm Lisa

I grew up in Tucson, Arizona but now live in Mesa, Arizona. I work for a charter school as a purchasing agent. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mother of 5 grown children, 4 boys and a girl. I'm a grandma of 5 grandchildren. I have an Associates Degree in Library Technology so yes, I love to read books. I love doing things out doors unless it is the hot summer of Arizona (I hate the hot summers). My family enjoys hiking, canyoneering, camping, going to the beach and all types of sports. I especially enjoy being with and spoiling the grandchildren. I love to travel and I hope to someday serve one or more missions with my husband. I love to learn new things and hope to someday finish my BA degree. Being a full time student can be really fun so that is one of my goals to achieve.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was a young girl, my family were not active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I met my best friend at about the age of 12. I started attending the Youth group with her on Wednesday nights. She was the Bishop's daughter. She never once judged me or criticized me as I learned about the church. To this day, I express gratitude to her and her family for the reactivation of my family. The gospel had been a light and a comfort to me since those days. I have felt the healing power of the Atonement in my life for my sins and for also my opportunities to grow (trials) and sorrows. I know that Jesus is my Savior and friend. I love reading the Book of Mormon and as I study the scriptures, I feel the Spirit testify to me of the truthfulness of this book. I love my family and am so grateful for the promise of an eternal family. We have big family gatherings the first Sunday of each month. I can not express the rewarding and joyful feelings I get when I have everyone together. It is a piece of Heaven on earth. We have our trials and difficulties but through answers to prayers and the Lord's tender mercies, these trials have or will someday be a blessing. He is aware of everyone of us and loves us. I have felt this many times in my life. I am grateful for my testimony. I love the gospel.

How I live my faith

I have had many different callings in our ward. We have been in our same ward for over 25 years. I served in the Young Women's program, women's group, and Primary and Cub Scouts. I have learned to love to serve in all the different areas. It was easy to enjoy Cub Scouts because I had 4 boys. I was a tomboy in my childhood so Cub Scouts was easy to love. I loved working with the teenage girls. We had summer camp and did all the girlie things. I know that one of my most favorite calling was teaching the women's group. It made me study the scriptures in great depth. I loved to have the Spirit direct what should be taught. I now teach Primary (the children's group). I love to teach them the basics of the gospel and see their testimonies grow. In each calling I have learned more about myself than I knew before. I have learned to be a more confident speaker, how to have more empathy for others and their trials, how to sing better (I'm in the choir), how to listen and so on... It is how I can follow the Savior, serve my brothers and sisters, and hopefully become a better person myself.
