Hi I'm Lori Pila Dickinson

I own a cake and candy supply store and I make custom order cakes. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother to four beautiful children, two boys and two girls, ages 9-18. I have been a member of the Church since 1985. I was introduced to the Gospel in high school, even though I had know many members most of my life. It seemed to be exactly what I already believed. I attended CSU Long Beach until my marriage. I have a great husband and we have been married for 20 years. We had some exciting times at first while we lived in New York City. After the birth of our oldest daughter, we returned to California to be near family. I opened a cake and candy supply store almost twelve years ago and have seen it grow and expand as my husband joined me in running the business. I love to be involved with my children and the activities they choose - music, soccer, academics, etc. I am learning now to let go as my oldest daughter attends college out of state. I have a good life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know it is the truth. I was not in a good place when I found the Church. My upbringing had led me in directions that had already caused me much misery. When I heard the message from the missionaries, it was as if I had found a long-lost friend. The people I met seemed to have a genuine interest in my life. After being baptized, things did not suddenly become easy. It was difficult to make some of the changes necessary in my life. Not everyone was supportive in my family and friends. It is important to realize that this life is a learning process for all of us. Those first few years as a member, the learning curve was great and I made many mistakes. I am so grateful for repentance. I am also grateful for those people who took the time to love me and stick by me as I progressed. These people never let me forget that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me more than I love myself. Today, I am overwhelmed somtimes at the difference in the way I have been able to raise my children. They amaze me with their strength and faith. They make good choices and are a good example to those they associate with at school and activities. Sometimes they are even hurt by their adherence to their faith. It is sad to me that there are people that teach their children that it is OK to attack others verbally in the name of our Saviour. Where there is contention, the Holy Ghost cannot exist. I am eternally grateful for a loving companion who supports me and plans on forever with me. He is honest and good. I am a Mormon because it is the way to happiness.

How I live my faith

I have spent many years working with the youth of our church. I have worked with the teenage girls both weekly and at a yearly camp for girls. Currently, I am serving as the Cub Scout Committee Chairman, making sure that our pack program is running smoothly. I love visiting with my sisters as a Visiting Teacher.
