Hi I'm Roy

I was raised in a small town in Northern B.C., Canada. I love spending time outdoors with my family and friends. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived in various locations across Canada and the United States. I have been married for almost 20 years and love to be involved with whatever is going on in the life of my children. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Automotive Technology and a Minor in Technical Sales and am currenlty employed with General Motors.

Why I am a Mormon

We started going to church after I was baptized at 8 years old. Although I had never gone to church often prior to that time, I have been attending every since. I served a mission for the church when 19 for 2 years in Ontario, Canada. I had a fairly good understanding and testimony prior to my serving, however, after 2 years of sun up to sun down missionary labors, I developed a deep admiration for the early leaders of the church and their efforts to establish the restored gospel is these last days. By way of testimony I have been able to share some of my beliefs many times with those who have a deep interest in Christianity and also to those whom are just curious. To those who have asked, 'Why do you keep believing what you do?, or I love what your faith teaches about the family but certain beliefs are just too hard to grasp, I would say this: The validity of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, really comes down to answering just 1 question. Did Joseph Smith really see God the Father and His son Jesus Christ that early morning day in the spring of 1820? If he didn't, then the rest of story doesn't really matter. However, if he did, then all the answers to life's questions can be found within the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. This is what Joseph Smith lived and died to bring back to the earth. It is my solemn testimony that he did see the Father and the Son, of this I have no doubt!

How I live my faith

My service the the church has blessed my life continually. I currently work with the youth as the 1st Counselor in the Young Men's Presidency program. Young men in this program range from 12 years old to 18, I teach specifially those that are 14-15 but work with all of them. I also serve as a Home Teacher where myself and a companion are assigned to visit several families each month to ensure that their needs are being met spiritually and that various jobs or tasks that may need attention get taken care of. As many are now looking at the natural disasters unfolding at an alarming rate both locally and globally, direction is being given to prepare and have some basic life sustaining measures on hand that can be used when needed. Direction we have been given by a Prophet for many years is to always be prepared and do your best to get out and stay out of debt. As we been able to store food and other commodities for lean times now and that may be ahead, I feel much more prepared to deal with the challenges of an uncertain future.
