Hi I'm Sara

I'm a Mormon. I was born & raised in Northern California. I'm a stay at home mom while my husband pursues a career in the NFL.

About Me

I grew up in a rural city in Northern California. I couldn't wait to get out. Although, I grew up Mormon I didn't have very many Mormon friends. I didn't want to go to BYU & be surrounded by Mormons. But after 2 weeks at a California State University I quickly realized that BYU was the right place for me. I had the most fun 4 years there & even enjoyed a semester at BYU Hawaii. I met my husband who was playing for the BYU football team. He is not Mormon. After college he was drafted to the NFL & we have spend the last 6 years bouncing around different teams: the Arizona Cardinals, Atlanta Falcons, Oakland Raiders, & New York Giants. I earned my Master's degree in Social Work & have a passion for helping youth. I am currently a stay at home mom for 2 young boys. I love crafting, scrapbooking, photography, exercising, & going on adventures with my family. Our life is spontaneous & a lot of fun! We are always traveling & finding something new to try.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised Mormon. Common, I know. I sort of lived off my families testimony & went through the motions of being Mormon. In fact, I spent the majority of my young life doing what was expected & trying to say/do/be what others thought I should be. It wasn't until I became a mother that I really sought my own testimony & found my own beliefs, not only in religion but in all aspects of life. Now, I firmly stand for what I believe & never let my convictions waver. But I always maintain an open mind to other's opinions. I have many friends from different religions, I've attended many churches, & I attend a regular non-Mormon Bible study. I learn & grow from everyone's opinions. The more I learn about other religions the stronger my faith in the LDS church grows. There is so much truth & hope in this church. It brings so much comfort & peace to my soul. I love that we believe in a loving Heavenly Father. I don't understand how so many people live in fear of God & His wrath. That sounds so gloomy. I love knowing that I can talk to my Father about anything & everything. I love knowing that he has a plan & that he has my family's best interests at heart. I have so much faith in His will. I love knowing that one day I can be sealed to my son's & be with them forever. I have many downfalls, we all do, but I love knowing that through Christ I can be forgiven of my sins. I love knowing that I can repent & my sins will be washed away through Christ's sacrifice. My life hasn't always been easy, for a while I was a single mom on welfare, I nearly died in a tragic car accident, & I suffered through a miscarriage. But I ignored all stigma & continued attending church. I have always known that when I do what God asks I will be blessed. Whenever I worry or fear I try to remember that God has my back. He will put my through trials to make me stronger & He will bless me in the end. He always has.

How I live my faith

Because of my husband's job we move around a lot. It's hard to hold a calling because I never know how long I'll be in one place. I try to give back to the church whenever I have an opportunity. I bake treats for events, help with decorating & set up, & I regularly feed the missionaries. I'm also very active in my community. We live in a small town with a strong community feel. I bake treats for my neighbors & help them with yard work. I help set up for community events. I get signed NFL merchandise to donate for charities. My family attends just about all school & community events. I can't wait to get involved with the schools when my children are school aged!
