Hi I'm Ethan

I'm a music fanatic, skater, gamer, on a mission in Guadalajara, Mexico, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Music is a huge part of my life! I played trumpet for 5 years, piano likewise. I´m a rock fanatic (RED, Broadway, Secrets, A Skylit Drive, We Came as Romans, Fireflight), but love anything tech-ish also (Zedd, Madeon, Kaskade, Swedish House Mafia). I love gaming, but spend the rest of my time outside skating. Freeriding, riding what's known as a longboard, had a recent bad accident though going about 45. Done it for years, I love it! But of course, these were things I did before dedicating 2 years of my life to serve a mission for this church. I have been living in Mexico as a full time missionary of this church (those guys with white shirts and ties in the street) for over a year. I am here to serve, to help others come closer to God.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm glad I am a Mormon. I was born a member, and always have been. Originally, I went to church because it was expected of me by parents, really not much of a choice. But over the past year or so I have seen what the church and what Jesus Christ can actually do for me, what I can do for others through the same reasons. I have had many experiences occur to me that have strengthened my testimony. One of these being when I was on a Boy Scout campout. We were doing a 120 mile bike ride with a lot of other kids 12-17. I don't do well in high altitudes, and had been feeling sick to my stomach for some a few days. It was about the third day and I really didn't feel good and had dropped to the back of the pack and then I stopped and sat on the side of the road. My stomach was killing me and I decided to wait for the back up truck to pick me up. One of the adults on the trip came up to me and asked how I was doing. He asked if I wanted a priesthood blessings, and I said that I did. So after the blessing was finished he continued on and I decided I would get up and try to continue. I was still in a lot of pain, but after a bit the pain basically disappeared and I didn't even think about it. I ended up finishing the day in the front pack. This event in my life was the first major confirmation of my testimony. I am glad to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and I am glad to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

The reason that stands out the most is giving up everything I love to do at home, gaming, skating, music, hanging out with friends, playing with my 7 younger siblings, even down to texting a friend about something funny that happened that day, for 2 years while I serve my mission. I am serving this because I actually know how much it means to me, how much it's blessed my life. I'm only 18 years old and am doing this, it's a big deal to someone at my age, I could easily be going to college or starting a career. I could be out dating. But I love what I have so much that I am giving it all up for 2 entire years to give it to others around me.

What is the priesthood?

The priesthood is literally the authority to act in God's name. It is the same power that was used by Christ to create the earth and our bodies. Boys at age 12, as long as they stay clean and worthy, receive the preparatory priesthood, the Aaronic Priesthood. Usually at age 19, right before their mission, men receive the greater priesthood, the Melchizedek Priesthood. Many ways a man with the priesthood might serve may include: Blessing of the sick, performing ordinances in the church, like baptism, and leading congregations of the church. Show more Show less
