Hi I'm Dean from Round Valley

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Michigan without a religion and joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints later in life.

About Me

I grew up on a Dairy farm in Michigan where along with my other brothers we milked all the cows by hand. However, it was only my mother and myself when I began milking the cow so I did much more milking than the others. We also grew all the hay and alafa for the cows. I was enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean War and was in charge by making runways for the plans to land. After the war I completed college and earned my degree from the Univeristy of Arizona. I worked for and retired from the City of Mesa where I was the Public Work Manager. Since my retirement I have found life in the White Mountains to be just right for me and my family

Why I am a Mormon

I do have my own testiomony and know for myself that this is the Church of Jesus Christ, but I did have a rather strong willed and lovely wife that wanted me to join the Church each day for twenty eight long years. She wanted a temple marriage and to have our children sealed to us in the temple of God. I was not a hard hearted person, even if others might have preceived me as such, I went to church on a regular basis and supported my family in going and participating in the activities of the Church. I had told myself that maybe upon retirement I would then join, my work was very stressful and time consuming, church membership could come later. Then my In-laws were called as Stake Missionaries and I was the one they wanted to "practice on". One Sunday evening at the end of many Sunday evenings with them my excuses had gone dry and I knew it was time to chose the Lord, and I did. I was bapized shortly after.

How I live my faith

Since being a member I have accepted many church callings. My wife and I have served a mission to Grenada where we had many wonderful and heart touching experiences. I decided that "no" would not be a word I would use when asked to serve others and also in Church positions. Each day it is easy for me to see ways that I can serve others and it has brought a joy to my heart that could come in no other way. I feel the love of my Savior as I take these opportunities. Life is good to me because of the love of the Savior to me.
