Hi I'm Devin

I am a goofy guy that loves Neuroscience. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a young kid serving a mission in Brazil, Porto Alegre North. I have very little athletic ability, but love to play basketball, football and golf despite my shortcomings. I study at BYU and am majoring in Neuroscience. It's very easy for me to think quickly and learn quickly meaning that school is generally a breeze for me. I am a very social person and will talk to anyone who will listen. Although I love to talk, I thouroughly enjoy listening to other people and gathering any information I possibly can. Because of this my friends call me the fountain of useless knowledge.

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up in the church and been a member as long as I can remember. I was baptized when I was 8, and yes I realize that means that I can't remember past 8 years old. I follow the doctrines of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, not because I have grown up with it, but because I know that it is the true church of Jesus Christ here on this Earth. Every day I get to experience the love of our Heavenly Father. It is like no other feeling in the world. I know that we are all children of our Heavenly Father and he loves and knows each and every one of us personally. His love for me and his will is really what keeps me going. Without this I would probably not be here serving a mission, or even active in the Church. There is a plan for me, and even though I don't know exactly what it is, I know that the Lord is preparing me for whatever lies ahead and that his plan for me requires me to follow the path that he has laid at my feet. That path is following his gospel and at the moment, helping others to come unto Christ. I have prayed to know if all these things, and the gospel is true, and have received my answer. I cannot deny the answer that I received, and that is why I will stay as close to Christ as possible to the end.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving a mission right now. I am serving the people of the Brazil, Porto Alegre North mission. As I am a native to the United States, that means that I have had to learn the language of Portugeuse. Being given nine weeks to speak a language well enough that you can understand the natives of Brazil and they in turn can understand you is not an easy task. I have to put my faith in the Lord that he will help me to learn that language that I may bring the glorious message of this gospel to the Brazilian people. Beyond learning the language I learn the gospel and study it every day. I read the scriptures and learn about the things included in them. I feel the Spirit every day and have a personal witness born to me that the things I am teaching are true and will bless the lives of every person that accepts the message.
