Hi I'm Christy

I'm a wife, a mother, a homemaker and an artist. I love to run, read and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Arizona in the USA. I've been married for over ten years with three beautiful children. I am new to sewing and I love to sew things I find online. I find it very satisfying to create something new and useful from a piece of fabric. I like learning new healthy recipes to try out on my unsuspecting family. I love to draw. I find it relaxing and a release of stress to create. I love to read books. I do NOT like to clean but it's something that must be done and I try to have a good attitude about it. I enjoy running. There is a lot of confidence that is gained by feeling strong. Plus it gives me the energy I need to keep up with my kids. I love my children and watching them learn and grow is one of the best parts of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon Church). When I was young I went to church because that's what our family did. I didn't have a choice in the matter. It was a culmination of many different experiences throughout my youth that led me to develop my very own reason for wanting to continue to attend church. Good friends, caring church leaders and my parents all left a lasting impression on me. One of the things they taught me was to pray daily and to read my scriptures daily. The remarkable thing about prayer is that it's free. Anyone can do it. Anyone can try it for themselves. Whenever life seems to much to bear I can kneel down and pour my heart out to a caring Heavenly Father and feel that my burden is lighter. When I have problems I'm trying to work out I can find answers by reading the scriptures. The Mormon church has taught me not to rely on the testimonies of others but to develop my own relationship with my Savior, Jesus Christ. I've had countless prayers answered in ways that left me no doubt that the church is true.

How I live my faith

I am the leader of a girls group whose ages range from eight to eleven years old. It's similar to a girl scouts program. We meet twice a month and teach the girls to do service, learn new skills, develop talents or just get to know each other better and build friendships. We also focus on reading and learning from the scriptures, developing testimonies and making good choices. The girls are encouraged to pray daily, honor their parents, and to keep the commandments.
