Hi I'm Matt Janes

I'm a Missionary in the Michigan Lansing Mission. I'm a golfer, fisherman, hunter but mainly a follower of Jesus Christ.

About Me

I am currently serving a mission in the Michigan Lansing Mission. It's pretty much the best thing ever. I've always been a member of the church but I can say that I am a convert to the church. Being on the mission it is kind of important to know and believe what you teach. It took some time but through the atonement of Christ I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ changes lives.

Why I am a Mormon

It all started off when I was born. My parents are both members of the church so I came to church by default. It took a good long while for me to figure out that this church is Christ's kingdom on earth today. I am a Mormon because I know that my savior loves me and wants me to live with Him again. Living this gospel is the only way that I will come back to Heavenly Father. I am also a Mormon because I know that the Book of Mormon is more of the word of God. It gives me a reason to try my best to live like the Savior. I know that the prophets that wrote it and the man that translated it were inspired of God. The church is led today by a prophet that receives direct revelation from God as to what we need in the world today. I find great comfort in that. I know that God still talks to man. I know that I can talk to God through prayer. I know that He answers me.

How I live my faith

Living my faith is what grows my faith. As I take time each day to study the scriptures and pray for guidance, I feel closer to my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. My faith didn't come all at once though. It came through constant effort through doing the little things. Trying to be like Christ is the best way to come closer to Him and gain more faith in Him. That's not to say that I have struggles. There are still mistakes that I make and things that I need to do better at. But that is why the sacrifice of Jesus Christ is so dear to me. I always have room for improvement and because of what Jesus has done for me, I am able to change and become better.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Matt Janes
We do not have to serve a mission but it is strongly encouraged to go on full time missions by the prophet. It is our choice but a lot of young men decide to go when they turn 19. Show more Show less
