Hi I'm Quinton Bassett

I'm a Texan, a Football Player, a Swimmer, a Top Five Student, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I played High School Football in Texas and was awarded the title as First Team All District Defensive End. Texas football meant a lot of practicing in very hot weather. I was also on the swimming and water polo team which made for very busy weeks. I made it to the State Championships in the 50yd Freestyle. I like to play basically any other sport for fun but mainly soccer, volleyball, and basketball. I played the Clarinet in band in middle school and as a Freshmen in high school. I am very dedicated to school and try hard to maintain a good GPA, to remain in the top ten of my class, but still do the things I need to and want to. I was the Homecoming King as well. I am now graduated from high school, going on a 2 year mission, and then going to Brigham Young University in Provo. I became an Eagle Scout when I was 14 and I have various leadership positions at school and church. I attended seminary at 6am all of high school, read the scriptures, and pray every day. I plan to one day marry in the temple for time and all eternity and continue developing my relationship with my wife and Jesus Christ the rest of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I want to have eternal happiness with my family and future wife in heaven and the only way to do that is to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. My faith and its teachings provide me with temporal happiness because I know I am doing what the lord would have me do. I can be sure through the Holy Ghost and the promptings I get from him that I am making correct choices. By following the Word of Wisdom, guidelines for our physical health like no smoking or drinking alcohol, I am physically capable of doing the activities I enjoy. I am so grateful for the peace my faith brings by giving me a knowledge of why I am here. Having a purpose on earth gives me a sense of significance and a reason to do kind acts of service that help others and myself grow. I know that my eternal happiness depends on the choices I make now so I choose to be morally clean and virtuous so I can return to live with God, our Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I am an Eagle Scout and thus did and continue to be active in service projects in the community. I am currently the leader of all the young men ages 14-15 in my church group. It is a job I take seriously and I try very hard to be a good example for them. The most important thing is that we as a young men's group remain virtuous and worthy to hold our priesthood, a sacred authority given to us by god. I also go with a companion once a month to 3 families. We help them with things they need and get the opportunity to share with them messages and our testimonies. I am glad I have responsibilities because they teach me how to be unselfish and to serve others which in turn will help me gain character which will help me in the future.
