Hi I'm Marquerita.

I'm a daughter of my parents, a sister to my siblings, a friend to all, a child of God and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like to do lots of things. I go to school full time studying to become a nurse. I also participate at the Institute of Religion, where i have a lot of my friends and enjoy spending time when i don't have any studying to do or when i have free time on my hands. My is family also one of my top priorities, we get together often and enjoy our time together. I love spending my time outdoors, i forget that sometimes especially with all the studying i need to get done, my favorite outdoor activities not in any particular order are biking, playing ultimate frisbee, walking in nature, and fishing. Indoor activities: i like to read (although it's been awhile that I've read something that is not school related.), i play a variety of sports, most of all i like spending time with friends and family.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because of the person that it has helped me to become. I was baptized at the age of 9, but my family became in-active soon after and that was the story until i started college. I remember walking into the Institute and meeting people there for the first time, i wanted what they had which was an uplifting happiness, direction and most of all their influence to do good. It was a struggle to change, but after some life events, i decided to become firm in the gospel. I served a mission and came home becoming closer to the person that i wanted to become, i still am working on getting there but i get closer each day as i strive to keep my baptismal and temple covenants.

How I live my faith

I strive to live my faith each day, some days i may not be able to do as well as i have on other days but i think that all that matters is that i try. One of the big ways that i able to contribute is through my church responsibility, once a month i have the opportunity to teach my fellow sisters the teaching of the living prophets and apostles. It is truly one of my favorite things to do, teach the gospel. I feel blessed and privilege to have such an assignment. I also go about each day doing the little things because for me they do matter and if they matter to me i'm sure they matter to someone else.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Marquerita.
The Book of Mormon prophet Alma compared faith to a seed. If you plant a seed and nourish it, if it is a good seed it will grow and eventually bear fruit (Alma 32:28-43). It is the same with faith. If you are obedient to God’s commandments, study His word, and have a desire to believe in Christ, faith will grow inside of you. True desire is essential, if we only 'want' to do something then we shouldn't expect to change, but if we truly desire to do something then we will 'act' on that desire and change. Change requires work and diligence, for it is by work that we obtain good things. Show more Show less
