Hi I'm Joe!

I can swing a hammer, I can program in javascript and linux, I have a beautiful wife and two boys. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a dad and husband. I'm a programmer. I'm passionate about learning and growing. Sometimes I drive my wife nuts with the amount of time I spend studying how to solve problems. For instance, I spent all day yesterday setting up a DNS server in our home network. Doing so will allow me to develop websites for the Ipad and other mobile devices where the ability to edit their hosts file isn't possible. I love hiking. I love music. I face each day with faith and courage. I LOVE music! My family and I sing Hymns and pray together on a daily basis. I've overcome a lot of anger issues. Growing up my life was somewhat chaotic, and I didn't have anything to keep me in check. I met my wife in 2006, and joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints in that year. My issues with anger really began to come to light. It took almost 4 years of trying, praying, and patience on my wife's part before I finally had an experience where I could really envision the Savior on the cross suffering for all the guilt and pain I was feeling. Today we have two beautiful boys, and I'm grateful to say that God has helped me out with my anger. My wife would say that now I am generally a super happy person!! Which means a lot to me :)

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because no other Church offered me what I was looking for. I grew up a Presbytarian, and I never really felt like the word of God meant very much to the members. I tried a lot of other Churches, but they all felt like different variants of the same christian rap group to me, teaching little or no hard-core everyday Gospel Principles that I could apply in my life. When I was invited to go to a Mormon Church for the first time I was somewhat skeptical, but I still remember the very first lesson I attended in Gospel Principles class: Work and Personal Responsibility! I was surprised to find so many important principles being taught. I felt the Spirit when attending Church and reading the Book of Mormon. I'm a Mormon because I have a Testimony that Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God. I'm a Mormon because I feel my relationship with my Savior growing stronger every day.

How I live my faith

I try to be kind. I do my best to serve in the Church. In the Church every member is given responsibility. I lead my family out in singing hymns and praying twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. I do my best to read the scriptures every day. I try to be kind and understanding of others. I work as hard as I can to provide for my family and be the man God wants me to be.
