Hi I'm Joe Larson

I grew up in Chandler, Arizona. I love sports, outdoor activities, and family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband and a father. I have a bachelor's degree in business administration. I work as a medical sales rep. I grew up playing all sports such as wrestling, diving, gymnastics, football, basketball, soccer, and softball. As I get older I still love to play basketball, softball, and have recently picked up tennis. Among my greatest hobbies is spending time with my wife and kids. Whether it be going on hikes in the mountains, playing at the beach in California, or just playing in the backyard, time with wife and kids is always enjoyable. Although life is very busy, when time permits I enjoy growing vegetables of all sorts in my garden in the backyard. It is a relaxing hobby and rewarding when I can just walk outside and pull a carrot out of the ground, wash it off, and eat it!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. As I was growing up, my family attended church services every sunday and we would read the scriptures often. During my teenage years was when I really started to grow strong in the church. As a young teenager I took seminary classes that talked about both the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I started to read on a regular basis in the Book of Mormon. In the church we are always challenged to find out for ourselves if the Book of Mormon is a true book of scripture from God and if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is His church on the earth today. As I prayed, studied the scriptures, and attended church regularly, I was constantly feeling great impressions inside my heart and soul that the things that I was reading and learning in the church were good and true and that I should follow in the path that I was on. I feel that through the spirit the Lord has confirmed to me that this is His church. Words cannot describe how much I love being a member of this church. There is such a strong focus on family and helping others by trying to live a Christlike life. I give thanks to God everyday for the blessings that I have received as I have tried to live the principles that I have learned in this church.

How I live my faith

It is absolutely amazing to see how organized the church is! I belong to a great ward which comprises members of the church from my local community. We are truly a ward family! Everybody in the ward tries to help each other out by serving in church callings and doing other service when possible. The church has no paid clergy so everybody volunteers their time and efforts to help benefit the lives of others. My calling in the ward that I belong to is an advisor in the Young Men Organization. I have the privilege of working with the young men who are 16-18 years old. My responsibilities include: teaching lessons on Sunday, working with them in Scouting to help them become Eagle Scouts, help prepare them to be righteous husbands and fathers and contributing members of society, and being an example for them to follow. The reality is that by working with the young men I learn and grow as much if not more than they do. I am a also assigned to be a "Home Teacher". This is just what the name implies. I have a few families in the ward that I go visit every month in their home and teach them a lesson about Christ and His gospel. I also try and do any service for them that they might be in need of. My family and I also are blessed to have our own Home Teachers who come to our house. They help to reiterate to our kids the things that we are trying to teach them. I have received great blessings from Home Teachers throughout my life. Besides church attendance, scripture reading, and praying daily, I live my faith by trying to follow the example of Jesus Christ our Savior. Although I am very far from perfect, I try to love my neighbor and be a good husband and father and a good citizen in this great country of ours.
