Hi I'm Becky

I'm a mum, a wife and a chocolate muncher. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am Becky and I come from a large family of 5 brothers and 1 sister. The gospel has always been a massive part of my life. My parents celebrated 31 years of marriage just recently and I think they both deserve a medal! I married my husband in 2006 and we have two beautiful children who make us smile (and count) everyday. We place great importance on spending time as a family together, doing activities such a swimming and crafts, enjoying the outdoors and playing games. I have recently qualified as a holistic therapist and look forward to working with other people in this profession. I also love listening and playing music, even if it has been years since i've properly played a piano. I love home baking too, trying out different receipes and flavours. I try and plan my baking around home visits, as with 5 brothers, i don't have to worry about eating too much!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Gospel, with my Father accepting it when he was 14, and my Mother's parents joining before she was born. I grew up with these two great examples. They were dilligent and obedient in following the Gospel, and that example will always have a deep impact on me. When i entered my late teens, i felt that i was at a crossroads in my life. It was a tender time in the Church for myself, as my poor parents will remember. I learnt quickly that the path my life was taking was not making me happy, and i started the difficult road to repentance. I am grateful that our Heavenly Father has given us the abilty to return to him, no matter our mistakes. Through study and prayer, i re-nurtured my dwindled testimony, and felt the truthfulness of the Gospel and the great love our Heavenly Father has for me. In August 2011, my sister-in-law was involved in a car accident that ended her life. Feeling a sense of hoplessness and guilt, i watched it devastate the lives of those i love. I turned to my Heavenly Father for comfort and guidance, and through the promptings of the Spirit, i was able to find the strength to help my family in those first dark months. I know that bad things can happen to us. Life can be very unfair. Yet, i know that we are here for a purpose, and that is to learn. Through hardships and trials, we can learn patience, empathy, humility and gratitude. This refining process, as tough as it can be, will enable us to return back to our Heavenly Father and be with our families again.

How I live my faith

For me, the best way i try to live my faith is through being an example to my children and others around me. I try and look for opportunities to serve and help others, and get the children involved too. We all have diffifulties and struggles and i always feel good when i put someone else's needs over mine. Jesus Christ will always be the perfect example to me.
