Hi I'm Scottie

I am currently serving a mission. Before my mission, I pole vaulted, and was coached by an Olympic medalist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love pole vaulting. I train for it every day, whether it be running, lifting weights, or doing the actual action of pole vaulting. I love climbing cliffs, cliff jumping (into water, not rock), jet skiing, hiking, canoeing/ kayaking/ rafting, rapid climbing, exploring outdoors, and gun shooting. I have won several rifle shooting contests. I also enjoy reading. My favorite book is the Book of Mormon. I also love spending time with friends, and playing sports with them. One of my favorite pastimes is spending time with my family. Most of all, I am very excited to be serving mission Rosario, Argentina, and to serve the people of Rosario, Argentina.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know it is the true Church of God. I believe that because it's what I grew up knowing and being taught by my parents. I also have a great feeling while at church or the temple. I feel sometimes peaceful, calm or sometimes I become super energetic. I believe that God does speak to our Church leaders and inspires them to talk about certain things that help our current times. I continue to stay a follower because as mentioned before, I know that it is God's Church. I also know that he is all powerful, forgiving, and most of all, all loving. He loves each and every one of us his children, and knows of our needs and trials, which we are given to become stronger so we can return to him someday. I know that he has created everything for our use and to help us return to him. I would like to share my testimony that I know this is the true church and that God is all loving and wants us to return to him because he loves us. I say this in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

Every day, I strive to show others the happiness and joy that can be found in living a clean and Christ-centered life. I have accepted the call to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have been called to serve in the Argentina Rosario Mission, and am pumped to go out and help my brothers and sisters in the Rosario region find their way back to live with our Father in Heaven. Also, I have completed and Eagle Scout Project, which is were a Boy Scout organizes a big service project and gets volunteers to help him carry out said project. For my project, we wiped and painted the bathrooms at a local public elementary school. They were turning from white to yellow, so we helped fix the image. And my scout group also does random service projects, like we picked weeds from a widows garden, cleaning houses and yards elderly couples, and several other things that some people can not do for themselves. I help plan these service activities in my group.

What is a ward/stake/branch?

My non-mormon friend described really well, and I always use it when talking to non-mormons that want to know what they are. He described a Ward as a little unit of Mormons that meet at the same time, and a Stake is the headquaters of a few Wards. A Stake is actually just a few Wards combined into one unit. A Branch, he didn't describe, but a Branch is basically a small Ward, just in areas with few Mormons so there aren't enough members for a Ward. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Yes, Mormons are very much Christians. In order to be a Christian, you need to believe in Christ and strive to be like Christ. Our official name, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, says it all. Show more Show less
