Hi I'm Sherry

I love reading and music. I am a cancer fighter. I am a true "domestic engineer" and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and mother to five busy, busy kids and I like to escape the craziness by listening to music, reading a book, or traveling somewhere warm and sunny. I say I'm a "domestic engineer" because my education and profession is mechanical engineering, but now I am a full-time homemaker. My life came to a screeching halt in 2007 when I was diagnosed with bone cancer. After several major surgeries, years of physical therapy and lots of help and prayers, I am adjusting to my new and different life. I love to play games with my kids, watch them play sports and eat the cookies that we bake every Sunday.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a Mormon because I was born into an LDS family. I have remained a Mormon because I have a testimony of Jesus Christ and the Book of Mormon. I am an avid reader and enjoy lots of different genres of literature. I have learned more from reading and pondering the Book of Mormon than from any other book. Although I have read the Book of Mormon many times in my life, I continue to learn and grow from its teachings. In my darkest, most painful cancer moments, I have been able to turn to the scriptures for comfort and relief. To know that my Savior loves me and that all will be well in the end helps keep me moving forward.

How I live my faith

I currently serve my local congregation by ministering in the women's organization, which is called Relief Society (isn't that a great name!). I love being surrounded by loving sisters and serving and working together. I have the privilege of visiting those in need and hopefully am able to provide compassion and comfort to them. I love being involved with such a diverse group of strong women who share a love for their Savior and a dedication to be happy and improve the world around them.
