Hi I'm Jacob

I'm a husband. I'm a father. I'm a pharmacist. I'm a soldier. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I married an overacheiver. She was 20 when we got married and she had already graduated from nursing school and was working at a hospital in our city. I, on the other hand, was more of a late bloomer. After 6 years of bouncing between part-time and full-time student status I finally graduated from college with a degree in pharmacy. And that is where our family's adventures truly began. I joined the Army in order to pa for my student loans and as a result have practiced pharmacy for the Army all over the world. Most recently, my family and I had the opportunity to spend two wonderful years in Korea. My wife, son, daughter, and I had some incredible experiences there. We loved experiencing another culture and way of life. It was especially wonderful for us to see how many incredile people there are in this world, even thousands of miles from home. This experience has truly shaped who we are and how we view ourselves and others.

Why I am a Mormon

One of the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that is especially meaningful to me is that God continues to call prophets to lead His people in our times. We read in the Old Testament about Moses, Jeramiah, Isaiah, and other prophets who guided and directed ancient people. We read in the New Testament about Peter, James, John and others who lead the Christians and were Christ's spokesman on earth. If they needed prophets and apostles back then, why not now? Surely our world is at least as complex and morally confused as theirs was. Why would God stop revealing His will to His servants now? I am so happy to know that He hasn't left us without prophets and apostles. He continues to reveal His will to His chosen servants today, and through them teaches us how to be happy and grow closer to Christ. As my family and I have listened to and lived the counsel given to us by Christ's apostles and prophet we have found peace, happiness, and the strength to overcome the many difficulties that life brings.

How I live my faith

Something I love about this church is that everybody plays a part. It is much like a family and everybody has a specific responsibility to help make the congregation successful. In the past I have been responsible for keeping track of the finances, for teaching a children's sunday school class, and with manging the congregation's library. Currently I am responsible for helping new members of the church or visitors learn more and have their questions answered. Away from church, much of what we do revolves round our family. We spend each Monday night together discussing the Savior, His gospel, playing games, and enoying each other's company. It really haps us remain close as a family and focuses on what is really important.
