Hi I'm Michael Sterling

I grew up in Idaho. I love to ski, hike and work on cars and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an only child. I was born and raised in Idaho Falls with my loving parents. I grew up in the LDS faith but I have had many friends of various religious backgrounds. I am currently attending Brigham Young University-Idaho studying Mechanical Engineering.

Why I am a Mormon

My mom started taking me to church when I was 2. I immediatly gained a testimony of God and that he created us as our hevenly father. I loved the idea that I used to live with God and that I can live with him again. When I went to High school my testimony faltered. I was not sure If I wanted to be a part of the church so I stopped going for about a year. That time was the hardest time in my life. I became unhappy. I felt less at ease. I could still have fun but life did not seem to be as good as it was when I was younger. I eventually agreed to go to church with my parents for one sunday. I only stayed for one hour but I noticed that I felt more at peace that day. I continued to go to church and I continued to feel peace and I began to feel happy once again. I rebuilt my faith and my belief in this Gospel. I know that God is there. I know that he loves each of us and that he wants to reach out to us and help us in our daily lives. I know that through following Christ and doing what he asks of us such as going to church, reading the scriptures and praying, he blesses us with peace and joy. Ever since I have come back to the church I have grown as a person and as a leader. I enjoy great peace and a knowledge of the purpose of my life as a son of God. God blesses me every day and I know that he will bless everyone if we just ask.

How I live my faith

I served two years from 2011 to 2013 as a full time Missionary in Colorado. I dedicated my life to sharing what I know with others. Not because it was my intent to force anyone to become a Mormon. But because I have been greatly blessed by a knowledge of My savior and I feel that the truths taught in the LDS Church bring me closer to him. I loved the time I spent teaching many people of Christ and the doctrines of our church. I Believe that the gospel of Christ is intended to bring happiness to all people and If we live our lives focused on Christ we will be happy. I try to live everyday as Christ would have me live every Christlike act that I do fills me with joy and an optimistic outlook on life.
